Keywords:
melancholy (57)slo-core (9)you need to put the delay on everything (1)my typical fare (1)
Description:
Still trying to get everything off the old tascam. so I bounced this into GB and cleaned it up a bit. it's a sparse, pretty little song (at least I think so). kind of spacey. wasn't sure if i should post this under psych or indie.

you can hear my old chair creaking, and I faded it in as the beginning had some crazy loud noise; usually I'm fine with that sort of thing, but this was really obnoxious.

Hardware:
originally recorded on the tascam 4 track, fender rhodes, ibanez bass, fender tele, DOD digital delay on the rhodes and I used a midiverb backwards reverb on the tele.

Software:
GB, itunes

Nice Michael. very lennonesque. has a real dreamy undertone that gently takes you out with the tide.

Nice Tune...... &mdash 06/03/07 - 12:56:47 AM
you pulled off the old tascam - worth the effort in my humble opinion - I hope to one day brave the same off my old 4 trac tascam - good little tune!
Blessings,

- Godchaser

love pulling stuff off the tascam. most of the time i end up dumping half of the track, and then rebuilding it. haven't heard most of it in so long, that it's fun to work on (or should i say cannibalize from)?

sound like hits to me. Nice soothing piece of music. I could see this as a musical interlude in a movie. Continued excellence.

Very atmospheric indeed &mdash 06/03/07 - 04:43:12 PM
A very sweet and pretty melody, and although it works on its simplicity it has a fine lushness of sound. You've given the song enough breathing space for its inner beauty to shine through.

thanks so much &mdash 06/04/07 - 05:36:03 PM
for listening. i try and keep things simple and moving along quickly (recording wise). i'm always stressed for time, so i like to start and finish uo in one sitting. sometimes that's good, sometimes not so good. thanks for listening.

Space to feel the dreaminess of descent &mdash 06/04/07 - 09:09:56 AM
Again, really nice. You do such a great job adding personal wrinkles to classic pop styles, making the tracks your own. Some pitchy spots in the vocals, but the casual style so well portrayed transcends. Consider posting lyrics? This tune sculpts a concept and stays focused, making a lasting impression.

thanks for listening. yeah there is one spot where the vocals seem wierd. listening to it, i think it's the piano that's really off and I just sang the same vocal melody over a wierd chord i played; or i sang out of pitch : ) i'm pretty much all about just getting it done; sloppy or not. i grew up playing in ounk/indie groups with no money to record things leisurely, so i tend to work really fast. in a band situation, we would probably counter that by rehearsing a bit, but when i work by myself, i tend to just get a basic idea and record without taking the time to think things all the way through (usually). i'm glad you appreciate this one.

very nice of you to pop by, and give my stuff a listen. I'm glad that you like the song; we come from such different places (at least in what we are good at doing), but I really respect what you do, so it's really nice to hear from you.

of this (including the creaking chair!) and i think the vibe is rather cool. Dreamy and meldoic. Nice.

I love the sea &mdash 06/20/07 - 01:10:34 AM
so i couldn't resist the title.

I have listened to four of your songs - i randomly chose them by the names that caught my attention, as you have so many songs!

I have not heard one that i didn't find pleasure in.

The ones i listened to are California 1 because i live in California. Mendocino, because that is the county i am from, and i have visited the town of Mendocino many, many times. I find it's a beautiful place to be when you have company, and a very lonely place to be when you're alone... but always beautiful. I also listened to Seafoam Green, and this one, too.

Your songs have a kind of mournful, yet soothing quality, at least the few that i've listened to... i look forward to listening to more. Thanks!

Jesus and Mary Chain this morning on the subway - and now this is wrapping up a very long day for me. Pretty damn cool soundtrack for my day. Thanks - you've got a real knack for the swoony dreamy thing that I like. Cool.
