Lyrics:
Sonnet 60, William Shakespeare
Music ©2006 Jack Miller and Richard Schletty

Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore,
So do our minutes hasten to their end;
Each changing place with that which goes before,
In sequent toil all forwards do contend.
Nativity, once in the main of light,
Crawls to maturity, wherewith being crown'd,
Crooked ellipses 'gainst his glory fight,
And Time that gave doth now his gift confound.
Time doth transfix the flourish set on youth
And delves the parallels in beauty's brow,
Feeds on the rarities of nature's truth,
And nothing stands but for his scythe to mow:
And yet to times in hope my verse shall stand,
Praising thy worth, despite his cruel hand.

Sweet! &mdash 06/03/07 - 09:00:03 AM
this is a dramatic rendering of some intense words, really nice guiatr and exceptional vocals...I love went the second guitar and tamborine kicks in...Nice

Needs more drama, don't you think? I need to take classical guitar lessons or something. Maybe our West Coast surf version is the best way to go. I dunno. Certainly needs better recording technology. I'm having trouble with sibilance and "white noise". The guitar and voice sound too distant and fuzzy.

the tamborine adds so much to this. nicely used to accent.
this is still such a wonderful tune! no easy feat to put mr shakespear to music.
those picking fingers are locked into their pattern for sure!
even more brilliant than before! thanks!
