Warcrime (1)hate (43)black (96)lollipop (2)
Description:
Some friends of mine told me that Garageband is a Toy and you cant record some serious Heavy Metal without the use of Loops.
So i took my macbook with Garageband to our rehersal place an this is the result.

Hope its not "To Mutch"

Lyrics:
Sent from hell , waste no time
Hate and destruction of al mankind
Killing fields , feed that hate
No mercy no hesitate

Venomous poison in your mind
You feel hate you be blind
Your heart is black , mind is grey
The riders come , you will pay

You took a life the seventh seal i braken
The sky is crying for every life being taken
your mind is black your overwhelmed with power
The end is near now...... by the hour

They closing in your heart beats fast
who will die who will last.
the broken remains of something wrecked
Black angels breathing down your neck

(dont take this to seriously, and i know my spelling sucks)

Hardware:
macbookpro with a Terratec soundcard

Heavy Heavy Heavy &mdash 06/05/07 - 03:13:32 PM
Wow Thumpa. You rock! Guess your friend will have to eat his words now. I hope you pound his face in with the butt of your guitar... Oh waitaminit - what did I just say?

You see the effect heavy metal has on an otherwise harmless man? No wonder people burn their records. Huh?

Great stuff! Love the photo too! You guys are way too cool.

It's heavy &mdash 06/05/07 - 05:46:02 PM
Wow, what a clean, rocking mix! Really impressive heaviness, actually. Love those giant guitars. The lyrics kind of made me laugh... something between serious and Spinal Tap, I'm thinking, haha, but I really liked the singing. I thought the verses and guitar lead were the most rockin parts. Excellent work.

haha &mdash 06/06/07 - 06:27:00 AM
Yes. the band is 4 guys over 40 so its a little bit like spinal Tap with atitude....;)

We put the band together only to keep the flame burning in our selves..

THANKS

Ha! This rocks a LOT! &mdash 06/05/07 - 08:48:44 PM
Who does it remind me of? Rob Halford?

This is tight, it's punchy, it has great riffs and great soloing, the bass and drums are terrific, and the vocals are, I think, the best metal vocals I've heard on MacJams...That has actually been the weakness in much of the hard rock and metal stuff on MacJams: being able to deliver a vocal with this much attitude and conviction....

And I'm not even a guy that's into metal, really... Still, I can tell how really good this is...

And David's right, it's a terrific mix... You guys must have some good mics and a good mixer..

rock on! &mdash 06/05/07 - 09:37:25 PM
This brings me back to my high school days. Definitely a Judas Priest feel here. Very slick, nicely done. A lot of metal songs have good instrumentation, yet weak vocals. Not here! Kudos!

metal never dies.. &mdash 06/06/07 - 06:45:17 AM
Thank you so mutch.
Yes there is some "priest" in there....:-)

Metal always seems to come back over and over again. on a concert with Iron Maiden i Sweden you could see the Dad with an old concert T-shirt and a son with a new one..

Thank you!

TWO HORNED-HANDS UP!!! &mdash 06/05/07 - 10:17:37 PM
After several days of listening to bands like Danzig, Mercyful Fate, White Zombie, Pantera, and Venom I just can't get into most of the music here at MacJams tonight. But most of the music at MacJams doesn't rock like this! It's always good to hear metal bands that sing rather than scream and do so with some originally. The guitars rock, drums sound great, and production is full and clear. I can't believe this was just a rehersal! This sounds like a semi-pro band demo!

[ Reply to This ]
Thank you &mdash 06/06/07 - 03:17:01 PM
The band would be realy happy to hear that.
Thank you so mutch

Too Much ?!? &mdash 06/05/07 - 10:39:18 PM
Hell, this isn't enough! Great track, loved it! Hey, and those drums sound pretty damned good- how were they mic'd?

[ Reply to This ]
Thanks &mdash 06/07/07 - 10:32:17 AM
Nothing fancy just a mic on the BD one on the SD two stereo paned for OH and one fore the FT.
Then one for one of the guitars and line for thge base

Then i maked a "Package" of the drums and base and bounced it to a stereotrack. then out with the track in to an old stereo (Tube) amp and back in to garageband to get somr headroom.

used one track for double the vocal and guitarrig 2 for the 2 guitar.

A nice trick is to bounce the guitarrig signal and keep the uneffected signal on a different track.
Then mix them together, the guitar gets a little cleaner and fater...(?) make sense? ;-)

wow- &mdash 06/07/07 - 12:20:01 PM
I understand what you're saying. I'll have to remember those tricks when I start doing more recording. We did some test recordings with a condenser mic for the drums and it came out marginal. The guitars were recorded from a POD directly into the computer. We'll most likely be mic'ing the amps in the future, though. Thanks for the details on your recording!!

This has everything I love &mdash 06/06/07 - 05:06:13 AM
in a hard rock song. Crunchy, squealing guitars, a driving beat, searing guitar solo and some seriously killer vocals! This is just freakin' great! Did I mention the lyrics were excellent, too?

If your band played around here I would definitely not only pay to see the show, I'd buy the concert T-shirt.

Even though heavy metal often contains musically very intresting components, it is not my normal style of music or attitude towards life. But this tune carry so much good will, besides being musically great, so this is my first faving of a heavy metal song at MJ! Great job Thompa!

.. your friends have eaten their share of humble pie! I'm not a metal head by any stretch, but I can see that this is very well made and performed. In fact it's as good as I've heard in some time in the genre. My wife is a closet Rammstein fan, and thinks this is good too. You sure have all the licks and play them well. Excellent vox too.
I'm very impressed, hope the naysayers had a real good listen!

GB is as amazing as it's operator. Nicely done! I really dig the chorus man. I can't believe I've been a MJ'er for damn near 6 months and hadn't stumble across your path by now? Go figure, eh? I enjoyed this much and for a live recording this was phenomenal. Rock on!
