Description:
This is my final remix of this song. I took others' suggestions and hopefully it's right now!

Lyrics:
For such a long time i've been under this cloud/
couldn't even see the road/
my heart was heavy-- my shoulders burdened/
on my back was such a heavy load/
i was looking out for everyone except myself/
didn't know if i would even survive/
and then i looked up and saw an angel appear/
it was then i knew that hope was alive/

beyond a dark horizon/
i see risin' a sun that's new/
beyond a dark horizon/
i see you/
beyond the darkness falling/
i hear calling a voice that's true/
beyond a dark horizon/
i hear you/

sometimes you have to wait a lifetime/
for just one moment for all things to change/
and it's in those moments of clarity/
your thoughts begin to rearrange/
maybe you always thought that life was goin' one way/
never to look ahead/
but sometimes you need someone to enter your life/
to remind you to raise your head/

beyond a dark horizon/
i see risin' a sun that's new/
beyond a dark horizon/
i see you/
beyond the darkness falling/
i hear calling a voice that's true/
beyond a dark horizon/
i hear you/

I was down on my knees/
begging someone, "Please--/
is this as good as it gets?"/
And then suddenly you/
came out from the blue/
telling me, "No, not yet!"/
Like a drowning man in the middle of the ocean/
I was dying along with the tide/
But then you swept me up with your love and compassion/
And held me close to your side/
You--you kept me alive/
And now, I'm gonna survive.../

beyond a dark horizon/
i see risin' a sun that's new/
beyond a dark horizon/
i see you/
beyond the darkness falling/
i hear calling a voice that's true/
beyond a dark horizon/
i hear you/

Song ends only sound is jaw hitting floor &mdash 06/10/07 - 03:49:00 AM
...!!!!!!... WOW! I can't think of appropriate words to say to this. This is by far the best produced, best performed, and best written song posted to MacJams in weeks. The lyrics are beautifully uplifting and work on many levels. I like that it can be interpreted at a religious or secular level. Your vocals blow me away. I especially like the bass voice. I'm listening on headphones now, so I can hear how full and clear the mix is. it sounds like you've sung some barbershop.

Musically this song is top-notch. I would love to know what you played, what you programmed, an what (if anything) was done by other people. I love the mandolin, and the celtic-sounding fiddle at the end is a nice touch. Is this all loops? It seriously doesn't sound like loops. Even the bass guitar sounds good - that can't possibly be a loop, can it?

This song is a great blend of gospel and rock. Have you ever heard a band called Bride? They are a classic Christian metal band who occasionally throws bluegrass and gospel elements into their rock stuff. I can totally imagine them doing this song. In fact if someone told me this song was by Bride, I think I would believe them.

You managed to get my own latest song unstuck from my head - thank you greatly for that. I've listened to this song like 12 times in as many hours, and I am more impressed every time I hear it. I'm so impressed that I've been plugging it all over MJ.

Thanks for the kind words and the observations! I've had this on MJ for a while, but it pays to keep working on a song till you got it right!

I'd say you got it right! &mdash 07/09/07 - 02:16:52 PM
Wow..first of all, how did you get that intro part together? It's a perfect start to the song. Also is that a real banjo or a software instrument? It adds so much to the mix. And the vocals are impassioned with tight harmonies. I'm sorry I missed this until now but glad I made it here eventually!

thanks!! &mdash 07/11/07 - 10:50:26 AM
i appreciate the feedback. glad to know i finally got it right! 90% of the instruments are loops from various apple loops packages, including the mandolin (it's not a banjo loop). i just transposed each loop at each measure i wanted a different chord. if there were more minor chords, it would be a much easier process. i wish there were more collections of loops with I-IV-V progressions in them. it would make using loops much easier!

Great song! &mdash 05/22/08 - 07:03:02 PM
This is an excellent piece all around in my opinion! Great chorus!!! Is there a banjo on the chorus? Was it recorded as real instrument or is it software? I liked it, gave a unique touch. Well done with the backing vocals too, perfect harmony! I liked the different ' moods' throughout the song too. Very well done!!! Rgds!
