Description
I got taken with this tonight. It's noisy (who said computers were clean) and it's one take.
I've always listened to lots of African music and there's a guy called S.E. Rogie who I saw many years ago who was one of the great exponents of what they call "palm wine" music (due to the milky alcoholic drink popular in Mali and such places) and I loved his wonderfully laid back style. I use 3 fingers and he used 2 but hey, it's rock'n'roll man ;)
I was watching the roots of heavy metal on the BBC tonight and came up with this setting for a song that's been knocking about for a while, go figure.
It's a pretty rough, noisy recording but I have had more than one drink tonight. I might record it when I'm a little more sober sometime ;) Then again I think it might reflect the kind of sound I would have got had it been recorded in Bamako in the 60s on an old reel to reel after having sampled the palm wine. Just me, a mic and my old classical guitar in one take.
A box of soiled tissues to the person to whoever spots the common theme......
