Description:
Here is a little SAMPLE of a song I want to collaborate with someone on .... (which means someone needs to write the music ....) PLEASE FORGIVE all that REVERB !!!!! (I do have a dry wav file for use if anyone is interested). And the horrible little audible CLICK and change of "airspace" as I recorded two verses at two different times ... BUT I am putting this up here so you can see where I am going with this .... WHAT I am wanting ... is someone to collaborate with to make this into a complets SONG ... I have posted the entire lyrics below ... ALSO ... if anyone wants to download it and CUT AND PASTE and TINKER with it .... GO FOR IT ... I am excited to hear what some of you might come up with ... I know others before me have done this very thing .... the final collaborative music does NOT necessarily have to match what I have sung here (i.e. note for note etc.) .... but I kinda liked the jazzy idea of it .... and the tempo maybe .... but I wouldn't mind re-singing the lyrics to match the music ... LET'S MAKE SOME MUSIC TOGETHER !
I thought I would make a LIST HERE of what's been done with this so far:
FORBIDDEN (July/07) Biba_Nova MIX from Acapella
href="http://www.macjams.com/song/32653">FORBIDDEN (July/07) VBluesky
href="http://www.macjams.com/song/33296">FORBIDDEN (July/07) Skean
href="http://www.macjams.com/song/33208">FORBIDDEN (July/07) Bad Smells
Lyrics:
How can I touch – what isn’t mine
What do I feel – when I’ve crossed the line
The warmth of your body next to mine – Forbidden
The hidden pleasures – of your touch
I take so little – I want so much
But the life I live – will be as such – oooh forbidden - forbidden
With you – forbidden … forbidden with you
Oh – Come to me now – come to my bed
Upon my shoulder – Rest your head
Give me your hand – and I shall be led
Forbidden – Forbidden - with you
ohhh The path I take is a dangerous one
The loneliness the urge to run
Into your arms - it can’t be done
Forbidden - with you - with you - ohhh with you - ohhh forbidden
I’m all alone
Although you are near - For you are not mine – so still I fear
The silence that I always hear – Forbidden – forbidden with you
Forbidden with you – forbidden with you
Take me in your arms once more . and I won’t fear the door
That will take me to my life before
Forbidden with you
Oooh
It’s time to go now – and find my place
In a world so cold – it holds no grace
But I will be free from the embrace of – Forbidden – with you
With you – with you – with you
Forbidden

Your voice &mdash 06/10/07 - 01:41:58 AM
is absolutely stunning! Your voice represents forbidden love without even paying any attention to the lyrics - that's how seductive you sound. And the lyrics are really good too. This almost doesn't need music. And for the record I think the reverb on your voice sounds perfect.
I lack the time, inspiration, and know-how to be able to compose an entire song for this vocal, but I would very much like to be involved. If someone else does the basic music, at least a beat and chord progression (upright bass and piano maybe - I'm thinking Moorlandt is the perfect candidate), then I would love to lay down some acoustic guitar. WOW .... &mdash 06/10/07 - 01:55:49 AM
.. that was quick .... you are indeed too kind to me ... and YES Moorland is definitely one of the Sexiest males on macjams in my opinion .... (present company excluded) but does he want to be part of this project ???? Let's see .... let's hope in the true spirit of collabs that all who want to be involved are indeed notified in due course with lots of time - I would welcome any contribution you would like to make !

On second thought &mdash 06/10/07 - 02:04:18 AM
I was just listening to a few random new songs that have been posted, and I realized that you/we don't necessarily have to go the traditional jazz route with this. There are so many outstanding electronic musicians here that somebody could make a musical bedrock in a style like drum&bass, ambient, or even synth pop, and it could possibly work. But whatever happens I still want to add guitar. [ Reply to This ]
This is crisp & clean! &mdash 06/10/07 - 02:29:21 AM
Forget about the clicks and airspace. Once again, your voice blows me away! This has so much potential. I would gladly offer my services, however, I'm merely an "ear" man. I don't do sheet music and I cant sight read other than figuring out where the song is going, so to speak. I'm sure you probably have someone much more "competent" lined up already. I can't wait to here this in it's entirety! Thanks for sharing and kudos for a nice work. [ Reply to This ]

... "Blown Away" huh ... yeah it's likely I am full of "hot air" ... HAHAHA I'm just happy that you like my weirdo voice.

Do you play anything besides guitar that might work here, or do you have any ideas for appropriate loops? Hell if nothing else I could play rhythm and you could play lead. [ Reply to This ]
I would have a go &mdash 06/10/07 - 02:51:39 AM
If you want me to....on the understanding that I am likely to make drastic edits to your vocal....and turn it upside down/inside out (maybe)
Or maybe not...(one never knows until the stuff goes into the digital blender)
(I would prefer the dry file if you want me to get involved

What a voice... &mdash 06/10/07 - 03:03:23 PM
I am officially impressed!
I normally do not have the heart to touch such a great voice with my poor music skills, but I will make a try to add some instruments, I hear some minimalistic saxophone and cello lines in my head...
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Greetings,
Bernd [ Reply to This ]
that's funny .. &mdash 06/10/07 - 03:11:58 PM
I'm usually afraid that it's my weirdo voice that is not doing the musician's magic justice ... heh heh and yes a nice cello would definitely be great .... I suspect that someone tho has to start things off ....

what a tour ! &mdash 06/10/07 - 03:46:43 PM
yeah .. hahaha ... I think I said something above about this ... someone needs to start it off ... if its gonna be a group collab ... I have NO abilities in that department which is why I asked for collaborators ... BUT I suspect that there may be a number of different things going on here ... for example - onesweetworld once posted an acapella snippet and I think it resulted in about 7 or more different uses ... I believe I heard about 7 different songs anyway .. there may be more now ... I'm open to all options ... use the snippet and create your own thing ... or create a whole song which I could add the rest of the lyrics to .... or ... or ... or ....

I've been talking to Axgrinder. &mdash 06/10/07 - 04:12:49 PM
He and I are going to work together and try to have our own sketch done in a week or so. Who knows if it will work or not. I'm not really sure what direction I want to take it in. I would really prefer if we had someone else to work with me and him on the drum beat.
If anyone wants to work with me on this, send me an email at aaron_nw@yahoo.com

Piano &mdash 06/11/07 - 03:25:53 AM
Piano with seventh chords will probably sound really good. There's so many people with ideas for this that I guess we're gonna end up with like 10 different versions. I suppose Axgrinder and I are left on our own for our version.
