Fantastic atmosphere... &mdash 06/17/07 - 10:38:06 AM
... and wonderfully dark, but captivating soundscapes. Could well be the soundtrack to a film, probably a horror film, but then there are frequent moments of beauty here too so there's far more than one dimension to this. Welcome to MacJams!

Wow! I was a bit nervous about getting comments but that's really nice, thank you! I guess there are multiple levels to this piece and you can make of it what you will.

Very interesting piece &mdash 06/17/07 - 10:45:48 AM
Atmospheric and, yes, dark, with lots of very cool sounds going on. This is very evocative and as I listened, lots of interesting imagery popped into my head. The title (and the picture) of course tends to send the mind in a certain direction, but I could imagine this music in many other contexts as well. Parts reminded me in a way of Peter Gabriel's music for The Passion - that intense, scary, but beautiful mood. The vocal is very nicely done, ethereal and captivating. This is very nice work. Glad to have you on board here at MacJams. Thanks for sharing. Peace.

Thank you &mdash 06/17/07 - 12:47:28 PM
Intense, scary and beautiful - I can't ask for more than that because that's exactly what I was aiming for. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment. And very glad too that it evoked imagery for you, which was another thing I hoped it would do.

ancient mystery &mdash 06/17/07 - 11:30:15 AM
The electronic sequence (chime-like) sounds give this a feeling of moving through catacombs of shrouds... the siren-singing and occasional exhales give chills... nicely done. Ethereal and mysterious. The waves and seagulls at the end give a glimpse of coming out the other side. I enjoyed the other-worldly journey. Was that you singing? Quite daring bent notes there, rather well sung. Welcome to Macjams, and if this is indicative of your style, I think I'll have to fave you and watch for more. I look forward to your critiques of my humble offerings here too.

Very kind &mdash 06/17/07 - 01:02:09 PM
Me singing? Yeah - though it probably sounds more like a whale than a person.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the otherworldly journey. I felt I had to bring it back up to the surface at the end because if you're going into these inner worlds visiting dark goddesses you don't want to be left down there!!

I'm over the moon that you liked this enough to 'fan' my profile page. It's a great compliment and I hope my future efforts will continue to please you.

Music is the quickest and cheapest way to get to ancient Egypt.

What A Ride... &mdash 06/18/07 - 01:06:19 PM
Very atmospheric, dark and ominous but with a real edge of beauty hidden in the shadows. And don't shortchange your vocals - they were excellent.

Welcome to MacJams!

Thanks for listening &mdash 06/18/07 - 06:56:42 PM
Ah yes, I have already discovered Mystified's ethereal improvs - she is following a similar musical path and I'm sure I'll learn a lot from her.

Powerful brooding track with elegiac vocals (beautiful singing btw). Welcome to MJ - hope there's more like this!

Very evocative.... &mdash 06/24/07 - 12:29:28 PM
...filmatic, dark soundscape that I could easily hear in a major sci-fi / horror movie

Clever sound management - the gulls are a perfect inclusion and instantly takes you into some creepy caves that you know you should avoid, but can't help going there!

Excellent use of GB!

Thank you Jim, much appreciated. Yes I was hoping the gulls would set the mood without being intrusive, and it's a fine balance so I'm pleased that you think it works.

I've been enjoying your atmospheric music too!

Soothing! &mdash 06/29/07 - 09:20:44 AM
If you didn't mention "dark" I'd say this is quite heavenly and positive! Beautiful soundscape. The etherial voice will blend with just about any sound, but the synths you pick are interesting and the arrangement has enough subtle elements to keep you listening - and listen again! Very nice concept with the voice standing out as being relaxed while maintaining this nice mystical quality and intensity.

Wow, thank you! That's a very insightful comment and you've obviously understood pretty well what my intentions were in creating this piece. The mystical aspect is especially important - I used a form of meditation to try to reach the deeper levels in the music.

Really Nice Soundscape &mdash 10/15/07 - 11:19:16 AM
I agree with Parichayaka, not too dark, except the brooding part near the end. A very effective soundscape with lovely vocals. Nice choice of synth sounds to balance the organic feel of the voice...metallic and a little harsh but still blending into the whole.

Thanks &mdash 10/21/07 - 04:39:31 PM
Thank you, I appreciate your nice comment. I liked the idea of combining natural voice sounds with the unnatural synth sounds and I'm very pleased that you think it works. :-)
