you keep producing such great tunes and I love these songs with Mystified - your vocals work so well together. As I've said before, it's that Leonard Cohen thing (I agree with you - he's the man). Your usual excellent and effortless sounding guitar work plus keyboards as an added bonus. This is haunting stuff. Keep them coming!

Glad you enjoyed this one...Mysti and myself always have a lot of fun working on the DFN tracks. Its really cool to import her multiple vocal bits into LE7 - they always bring the song to life!
BTW did you get to hear our GoBetweens cover on the 'other' site - I know you are a big fan of em so we be cool to see what you think of it (not that it is a patch on the original!)
Cheers

the original is a bit special but you've done a great rendition - it's such a wonderful song. My favourite from that album is 'Was there anything I could do' which was the first of their songs I heard.

BTW - Great Dylan cover as well and Julia Dream with Rebsie is superb.

Dusk duet... &mdash 06/12/07 - 03:37:05 PM
echoes of distant voices... following... echoes. This song reaches for and arrives at a sense of longing, desire. Really a good job. Stevel, some nice licks there at the end. Your voices compliment each other quite well. Thanks for sharing the song.

Waddle I do? &mdash 06/12/07 - 10:47:38 PM
At first I thought .... "when the duck begins to creep in" ;)
Rich and classy as usual - voices sound great on this. The hihat is a bit repetitive to my ears, but that's just me. Having Mysti on board is a bit like having a proverbial band of angels on board. Guitars are just right, and the foghorn is in fine form!
Lovely production as usual.

I might have to use that 'ducks creep in line' in another song...maybe I can convince Mysti to contribute some 'ambient quacking' too? We shall see
Cheers for listening Neil

Sumptious &mdash 06/13/07 - 04:47:43 AM
I really enjoyed listening to this - there's lots of fantastic music being played and sung here and a gorgeous melody which gently unfolds like a beautiful design on a silken bed spread.

But I hope you don't mind if I share a couple of thoughts I had on how it could be enriched still further. The rhythm loop seems too fussy to my ears so perhaps it might be worth trying something simpler or taking out the hi hat from time to time. Also it maybe an idea break up the rhythm track into its constituent parts and and some reverb, pan or effects so that it melds with the all the other loveliness going on. Overall this track seems quite dense and would really benefit from some more space in the mix.

I don't normally offer up so much in the way of crits but it's such a great track and I really feel it's worth spending more time on if you have the inclination...

Glad you enjoyed it....I do actually agree with you about the density of the mix, maybe I can persuade Biba Nova to do a remix!
Cheers for listening
