A song I did in the 80's but hadn't recorded, so thought I'd give it a re-hash. Didn't know what genre really, but I think Latin is close enough.

nice Latin Jazzy stuff
Fun gentle song, nice lyrics. If I may offer some mixing ideas... I'm listening in headphones, so certain things are more pronounced than just listening on stereo speakers... but I might suggest moving the guitar closer to center. It was subjected to the right corner all by itself, and made the recording feel lopsided. Another thing you can try is to make a copy of the guitar track, and pan one side far right, and the other far left, and leave your voice near the center... this often gives the nice illusion that the guitar is "centered" and balanced, but it is somehow NOT in the middle and thus does not interfere as much with the voice, which is ALSO in the middle. OK, the drums seemed pretty good, they were spread out a little which is good. And finally, I assume you did that really tight harmony in the chorus as two different singing tracks, right? If so, I would suggest separating the two tracks very slightly, so the voices sound like two singers. The ethereal whistle was a nice touch, and far enough in the background not to distract much. Sounded like the guitar was a little out of tune from it though.

Thems my critiques, hope they are helpful! I think this song is quite nice and worth re-recording with some of the above suggestions, and hopefully with upcoming suggestions (or rebuttals) from other commenters.

those good comments; all to be taken on board. I did move the guitar after I'd removed my headphones because I get a better over all sound from my other speakers, but I do take your point/s. I messed about with the tracks so much, that I was getting sick of hearing the song LOL, and GB kept stopping and giving me the message that 'Part of the song was not Played' Duh!' ( which was obvious), regards M

	70's Samba Love Jazz Love it!! it has that mellow relaxing samba vibe, wow! excellent lyrics, a sweet painting of sound, Im a big Fan keep churning them out...that chorus is fantastic!

	Very nice vibe Great rhythm, and the lyrics work well with the music. Singing is good, and the double-tracking works well. Thanks for your comments and glad you like this. Both yourself and Drakonis are right about the guitar to the right and I realized after answering Drakonis why it happened. I had added a piano track at one point (after much to-ing and fro-ing with the tracks) which I placed on the left, but it sounded a bit too fussy, so I deleted it. Alas, I never corrected the balance with the guitar, so I'll know for the next time (I hope). Regards M

Tight harmonies
Maurice - a belated welcome to MJ! I like the song, and I love the harmonies. Like Eduard (drakonis), I think you could have improved this a lot with some better mixing. I'm also listening in headphones, and the right hand side guitar grates after a while. Again, like Eduard, I hope you don't mind me making suggestions (all based on my personal taste of course) - the chorus/phaser or whatever it is on the guitar is a little too much for this song. A straight acoustic with a little echo would have done the job much more nicely. Drums are good, and I like the chord sequence, lyrics, melody (and the perfect harmony). Mixing the two vocal parts at different points on the sound stage would have been a really good idea to add some more depth to the mix (I also sometimes double each vocal track and put a few milliseconds delay on the second track, panning them left and right maybe 10 or 15 - it adds more depth). The bass could maybe flow a little more smoothly, but works OK. It's a bit long for the type of tune. A little like the pot calling the kettle here because I regularly post long songs - I just think you could have done what needed to be done in less time. Last nit - sorry about this - is that you need to work on the hiss, noticeable towards the end.
Despite the nits, I think this shows the potential you have here, and I hope we hear more from you. I hope you find the comments useful, I'm not trying to cause distress.

for the critique, you'll have maybe read now my excuse/reason for the lopsided stereo. I've been back into GB and can't alter it without re-doing it and I'm too busy at at the moment. Regarding the hiss... God knows what's causing it I've just tried everything i can think of to sort it, but it remains. I think it's to do with the guitar sounds in GB combined with my 'fast track' (which I can't seem to get the hang of either guitar-wise). They just don't seem to work for me; no volume to them except the grungy ones, so I have to be picky or just use the 'churus' which I did.
I'm no mixer since you'll see by my picture, that I'm of the old school,when I just used to play with my Sound City amp a sure mike and a Guitar and that was it. Never had to 'mix', so being new to all this equipment, I'm really on a learning curve (and from all the critique, it seems I'm heading for the deep end LOL) (joking) Thanks for the welcome and comments though and I'm glad you basically liked the song, M

I like the '80s...
...nice tune, Moviz...flows really nicely. I agree with drakonis' point about centering or splitting the guitar. It's really nicely played with a very soft, clean sound. It's the centerpiece of the backdrop...

Nice lyrics...I need a time machine to revisit some of my nicer moments back then. Until I get one, though, tunes like this will do just fine.

Musichead, you're all right and as I explained it was balanced, until I removed the piano which was to the right. In my haste to post I forgot to move the guitar towards the centre. Glad you commented and yes I suppose I am looking for something different, 'though I do like all sounds and genres so I do what the mood takes me (sounds like the title of a song LOL ) M

I'm so pleased you said that about the voice because I'd been complaining that I was sounding 'old'.( Well I am old, LOL so what do I expect it's bound to). Anyway the synth sound is called 'mulder' and came free with Alpha CM with the Computer Music Mag. I couldn't wait to use it. Thanks again, M

Good stuff
Many of the comments that were made here would be repeated by me concerning the mix. Trust me when I say that the people who commented on this song and made suggestions must like it a lot because (if they are like me) it seems a waste of time to offer suggestions to people who are clueless or on songs that have no merit. This song has a lot of merit and some minor changes in the mix could make it even better.
BTW ... mixing and working on a song til you are sick of it is a good way work. If you are not going to put the effort into making it perfect and making sure everything is EXACTLY the way you want it ... who else will? It is hard to explain why someone would spend hours and hours on something so that others can spend three and a half minutes listening to it and then move on ... but that is the way it should be.

BTW clicking the little "lock" on the some of the tracks will solve some of the stall problems in GB. When you lock a track it will be rendered with all the effects that are assigned to it. It will take a couple of minutes but it will free up the processor to allow more effects on other tracks. I usually lock a couple of the percussion tracks if I have the problem of stalling and then "unlock" them later and lock others if I want to tweak the prevously locked tracks. It is a pain but it works well and works pretty fast too.

The GB tracks lock automatically when one raises or lowers the volume on the track with the little 'beads' where there is a need (as you will obviously know), but I didn't know that it freed it up, I may have another bash at it one day and try to get a better balance, M
