Description:
Sorry, the vocals aren't very good. I liked making this song though, I think it sounds good. =] I played the piano and sang.

Lyrics:
I'll be here for you if you need someone
If you need a shoulder to cry on I'll be here
If you need someone to laugh with I'll be here
If you need to let it all out I'll be here
I'll always be here for you

I am a friend come to me I will comfort you
I won't forget if I'm sad I will come to you
You are my friend
We will stick together till the end till the end

If you need a place to live I'll be here
If I need a gift to give I know you'll be there

I am a friend come to me I will comfort you
I won't forget if I'm sad I will come to you
You are my friend
We will stick together till the end till the end

The end

great effort &mdash 06/22/07 - 09:04:34 PM
Lily, how did you record this? sounds like an honest to goodness real piano. very well mic'd. Loved the sincerity and starkness in your vocal delivery. There was some small ambient noise that (like jostling the mic) could be fixed, but otherwise a cool track.

Yeah, I think I could have done a lot better on this song, but I was just too lazy. I'll make a better one next time =D

Thanks though =]

very pleasent &mdash 06/23/07 - 01:22:52 AM
this is quite lovely actually, did you write the piano part first and then decide to write vocals? it sounds like it. this song deffinitally has potential and i love the little interlude when the drums come in, its very pretty. i'd really like to here more of this type of music from you.

oh a suggestion. maybe you could have a little piano intro instead of cutting straight to the vocals. it will bring the audience into the song. but overall this is a nice song and i'll be looking forward to more of your music.

I agree with KTB &mdash 06/23/07 - 08:30:03 AM
this piano sounds absolutely gorgeous... I have a yamaha grand in my studio, and it sounds wonderful, but when i try to record it it sounds like mud... I've tried everything... different mikes different placements... this really shines... your song construct could use some work, and I edit the drums out if this were my song... they are not needed

one question... what was that bumping sound during the recording?

welcome to MJ... keep it up

I like the way the drums sound. And the bumping noises where my microphone, I meant to edit that out.. Anyway, I don't sound very professional right now, but I plan to keep practicing. =]

I like your piano playing and your vocal timbre. The presence of your voice and piano in the recording is very forward and centered in the sound space (if you think of the sounds in the recording as sitting in the 3-dimensional space), which I think is good.
I think I notice something here that I notice in myself whenever I try to sing - I need to practice my breathing while I am singing, otherwise my timing gets off a bit, and then I try to rush it slightly to catch up, and then I get more tired than I really should just singing a song.

really nice &mdash 06/23/07 - 06:01:58 PM
a nice demo of a very good song. piano playing is very good. Plus your vocals have a really presence.

I think when you get use to the recording process, you will be deliverying some great songs.

Another good effort &mdash 06/23/07 - 09:05:01 PM
this song has a lot of merit but suffers from some technical issues that hurt the overall production.
Microphone technique is important. Invest in a microphone stand to hold the microphone when recording and then don't touch it. The stand doesn't have to be expensive and even a desk stand would work if you don't have the room for a floor stand.
You could also back off the microphone a bit. Work it about 6 inches away from your mouth. Working it really close like you might do on stage is not needed in the studio as a general rule because you don't need to. Working too close always results in some Popped Ps and Bs and sometimes results in breath noises reaching the microphone. A good pop filter would help somewhat.

BTW I like the song a lot. A universal idea clearly stated. I like the line "If I need a gift to give I know you'll be there" a lot. Nice idea and good statement of what friendship is all about.

Sounds great &mdash 06/23/07 - 09:13:19 PM
Really cool. The piano and your voice sound great together. Would be interested to see what this would be like if you expanded on it in some way, but I like it as is. Keep posting.

i like your vocal tone, it's not the best vocal take but that's a battle i've been fighting for the last two years. when your voice is on it's beautiful though. sounds like you need to just be more comftorable with the melody cuz sometimes the vocals seem awkward. the song itself is nice.
