Description:
A simple song about Midsummer and its festivities.
"The little frogs, the little frogs, are amusing to watch." - From a famous Swedish Midsummer song.
Lyrics:
Midsummer Nights
Celebrate the magic solstice
under the Midnight sun.
Burn fires, make love, get higher,
under the Midnight sun.
Blow the horn, blow the horn baby,
blow the horn let's all make love.
Here's a nix, here's a nix, here's a beautiful nix,
here's a trick for Mr. 666.
The Midnight sun and the seven flowers,
Midsummer teach us all about love.
Under the Midnight sun.
What a party, what a light,
let's make love all night.
If you'll be my troll, I'll be yours,
let's ride on the brook horse.
Midsummer Nights are for summer people,
with flowers in their hair.
Hold the sun
in your naked hands.
Hold it tight
and lose yourself into it's light.

Is the above a comment on my song or an existentialistic poem? :) Hey, glad you're liking my love movement - glad you like my songs! [ Reply to This ]

Love this! &mdash 06/19/07 - 04:44:30 AM
This takes me back (longer than I'll admit) - hints of an Aussie band "Machine Gun Fellatio" (sorry kids) in the verses. Mikki, I've said this before, but I really enjoy the different way you approach music. The verses to this make a Finnish rather than Swedish connection for me, but then you hit the chorus, which sounds different again. This wouldn't be out of place on a Ben Lee CD either.
It is really good to have such an original (and very good) MJer as yourself here.
I really enjoyed this - it would be on the radio here.

I really like this tune. I know I'm going to get laughed at, but in a good way your voice here reminded me of the singer from the B-52s. It's just a very fun and energetic song. A pleasure to listen. [ Reply to This ]

Neil - I've never heard of Machine Gun Fellatio - perhaps there's a logical reason to that? :) I do however listen to an old Swedish band right now called the Hep Stars, famous in the 60's. It has Benny Anderson on the keys, and of course this was way before he joined ABBA. I don't know of you mean musically Finnish, however, I am about 45% Finnish, 45% Swedish, and perhaps 10% American these days. :) The lyrics are a mix if Finnish/Swedish, of course with the touch of Mikki. Thanks for listening and thanks for your valuable comments.
SecaMode - I used to like the B-52's, way back. It's always interesting to see what people here on your own music, and most of the times things you've never would have been able to come up with yourself! :) Thanks for listening! [ Reply to This ]

Digging the rhythm track here &mdash 06/19/07 - 07:20:48 PM
and the chorus break with the synth line - Ooh and it's followed by a a bridge with another cool synth line. This song is a blast - what a great vibe you get going here. I'm there. [ Reply to This ]

Ahhh.... &mdash 06/19/07 - 08:50:08 PM
....something to listen to as I'm dancing around the fire on the Solstice (probably figuratively rather than literally, unfortunately.)
This has got a seriously cool groove Mikki. One of the things I love about your music is you never know what to expect and, somehow, you always manage to please. This is no exception. Lots of fun, my friend. I'm glad to see you're back with a vengeance. [ Reply to This ]

Thank you for your warm words. To be honest, I would not create music if I didn't surprise myself as well, this is the magic of creativity I believe, I am acting the same in the kitchen. While this song may have close out close to a Filet Mignot and a glass of Rioja, there are plenty of just straight burgers and a cheap beer as well... :) [ Reply to This ]
great bass &mdash 06/20/07 - 06:34:37 AM

First of all, great job and well structured song. Really enjoyed. Vox reminded me ok Black Francis(The Pixies), that's a very good thing.

your bass sound - it really drives this piece along with the rhythm track - the guitar works really well and the production sounds very good. I'm not hearing B-52s here - in any case Fred didn't sing too well (neither did the girls really) but I was a massive fan of their first album.
A very interesting piece! Thanks for sharing.
