Description:
This is my 2nd version of "Daughter Of Fortitude."
I made changes to the verses and the Bagpipe melody in the chorus and outro.
I have not recorded the vocals yet, but I have included the finished lyrics for you.
Thanks to KristyJo, Aaron Wooldridge, Pavlina, and BlueSky for taking the time to listen and critique. Please enjoy and play it loud! :-)

Lyrics:
Verse I

I am the daughter of fortitude,
and ravished every hour from my youth.
For I am understanding,
and the heavens oppress me.
They cover and desire me,
with infinite appetite.
But none that are earthly have embraced me,
For I am the daughter of fortitude.

Pre-Chorus

The lion knows not where I walk.
Neither do the beasts understand me.
I am deflowered, and a virgin;
I purify but I'm not pure.

Chorus

I am a harlot for such as ravish me,
and a virgin with such as know me not.
I am loved by many, and a lover to many.
As many as come unto me have entertainment.

Verse II

I am shadowed with a circle of stars,
and covered with the morning clouds.
My hands are sweet as morning dew,
and my dwelling place is in you.
Purge your streets, O you sons of men,
make yourselves holy only then
will I come and dwell amongst you.
For I am the daughter of fortitude.

Pre-Chorus II

Chorus II

i love it john! &mdash 06/18/07 - 08:18:35 PM
i think it is just perfect. the bagpipes are brilliant now. i LOVE that heavy serious melody of chorus and its rhythm and then that following guitar solo followed by bagpipes. well, i love it all :) i hear in my ears an expressive male voice singing the lyrics. nothing smooth or gentle, really sharp expressive voice which is more shouting then singing. wow...... brilliant work.
looking forward to hear much much more :)

Bagpipes now fit well. Interesting lyrics. I look forward to hearing the sung version.

Be well!

It's getting there... &mdash 06/19/07 - 09:15:47 PM
This is definitely closer to the way it sounds in my head, but the mix is still rough.
I will pull down the bagpipes in the mix because they are a bit too loud right now.
And to beautiful Paja, thanks for the encouragement.
Your energy is inspiring!

wow! this has got such an epic feel about it! like Ceilidh, i can hear a dominant male voice at work in this... the "heavy" part was reminiscent of Jethro Tull, which is good for me because I enjoy that kind of subtle power. great job assembling this one!

i do agree the bagpipes may be a bit on the strong side. but that's me. nice close out, by the way! well played!

I'm impressed! &mdash 06/21/07 - 04:04:33 PM
This has the makings of a stunning slab of Celtic rock and I really like the changes - can't wait to hear this with the vocals. The bagpipe sound is great however I'm picking up a slight fogginess in the accompanying guitar sound - I'm no expert on these things but playing around with the effects at the mixing stage could probably remove this.

Damn good ears!
I just listened to the guitar part by itself and it is not in perfect tune, so it sounds weird when matched against the bagpipes loop.
I can't wait to actually have real musicians play this song one day.
I'm definitely a fan of 70's Prog Rock stuff.

I enjoyed listening to this complex and unique piece.
I look forward to hearing the lyric voiced. Could there be a soprano, hummed or ah-hed background? I love the bagpipes. Powerful and energetic.
Thanks.
