Lyrics:
Live on Love

©2007 Joseph Gurner

She told me one day
I want to run away
with the man
of my dreams

Some one who’ll hold me close
and laugh with me
and dry away
my tears

Then a gentle smile
spread across her face
and her eyes
were miles away

She said I’d care for him
through all my days
and we could
live on our love

We’ll live on love
from the morning light
til’ the end of our days

And when you smile at me
I’ll take you hand
and we’ll live on love

She said she’d never found
through all her life
that man
of her dreams

She has searced so long
for someone who
wants to
live on her love

We’ll live on love
from the morning light
til’ the end of our days

And when you smile at me
I’ll take you hand
and we’ll live on love

We’ll live on love
from the morning light
til’ the end of our days

And when you smile at me
I’ll take you hand
and we’ll live on love

She turned to me
and I took her hand
Then a smile
crossed her face

I’ll run away way with you
and we’ll laugh and cry
and we’ll
live on our love

We’ll live on love
from the morning light
til’ the end of our days

And when you smile at me
I’ll take you hand
and we’ll live on love

We’ll live on love
from the morning light
til’ the end of our days

And when you smile at me
I’ll take you hand
and we’ll live on love

Neil Young vibe &mdash 06/21/07 - 06:01:37 PM
Very solid writing. Consider mixing a version with less reverb? Also, my speakers distorted a bit, perhaps you were pushing the levels too? I enjoy the Neil Young vibe.

Neil says hi.... &mdash 06/25/07 - 12:26:05 PM
I take him out of the basement every once in a while for a little inspiration. :)

I did notice the distortion and I'm not sure where it's coming from, whether it's from pushing the levels too much or if it was from the actual recording. I think I may have gotten too close to the mic a time or two.

Thanks for listening and for your comments, Tobin. I appreciate your input.

solid song &mdash 06/21/07 - 08:59:17 PM
I agree with the Neil Young vibe as well. Really dig the bass line.

Oh, and the Pac-Man boxers solo waas excellent, had a nice flangong effect!

Thanks Vic! &mdash 06/25/07 - 12:29:00 PM
I think it's the Pac-Man boxers that really make the tune. It's not something a lot of people think about incorporating into their music.

I appreciate you stopping by.

Thanks Joseph &mdash 06/21/07 - 09:34:34 PM
Very nice anthemic story song here! Really like the way you set up the drums. Great harmonies, solid lead vocal and a very nice sound indeed.

Great inspiration &mdash 06/25/07 - 12:33:29 PM
This one was inspired by a conversation with a friend, who I discovered was a hopeless romantic, and is really little more than a transcription of our conversation. It just really stuck with me and almost wrote itself.

I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment, Tom. Thanks for stopping by.

Like it Joseph! &mdash 06/22/07 - 01:19:14 AM
Pretty full-tilt anthemic quality to this Joseph - personally, I'd have liked to hear it with a little less fx, but that seems to be the jgurner signature sound these days. Your vocals continue to improve, as does your playing and production.

My reverb addiction is back &mdash 06/25/07 - 12:41:14 PM
Now that I've started using Logic, I realize I have to use every plug-in on every song. I'm sure I'll back away from that before long. My hands still start to tremble when I get to the reverb, though. I mean, all those different kinds of reverb. I may have to get back in the 12 step program.

I always appreciate you support, Neil, especially when it comes to my vocals. I've been singing a lot lately getting ready for a live gig in August, trying to get my voice in shape. This tune has already been added to my song line up for that gig.

Honest &mdash 06/22/07 - 08:46:04 AM
Honesty, passion and love packed in a very good melody. Good mix, guitar, bass and vocals. This is the type of song I think you pull of the best, this is YOU. And it's really damn good.

Honest emotion &mdash 06/25/07 - 12:49:25 PM
A lot of feelings went into this song, which I think made it so easy to write and perform. Plus, I think there's a universal appeal to the whole idea behind the song. Who hasn't just wanted to run away, caught up in the throes of passion.

Glad you enjoyed the tune, Mikki. You probably know my music as good or better than just about everyone else here, so, that kind of praise mean a lot.

good work here Joseph &mdash 06/23/07 - 08:37:37 AM
Good writing for starters... this has a bit of the arena rock vibe going on... prol the reverb... sometimes you can loosen things up a bit to emphasize that atmosphere.. guitar hooks, good bass line... the whole thing feels great...

Thanks Scott &mdash 06/25/07 - 12:53:45 PM
I've told several people that this was probably one of the most fun bass lines I've done in quite a while. It was done late at night and I decided to use as much of the five strings on the bass as I could. I worry sometimes about making bass lines too busy, but I love busy, melodic lines. They just make a tune more interesting.

I'm glad you enjoyed the song, Scott. Thanks for dropping in.

Much love for the Les Paul &mdash 06/25/07 - 12:57:12 PM
Since I first played a friends LP in college, I have been in love with the Les Paul Sound. I don't know a lot about guitars and why they sound like they sound, but I know it just sounds and feels "right" more than any guitar I've played.

Thanks for listening and commenting, Steve. It's very much appreciated.

Strong song &mdash 06/25/07 - 04:02:07 AM
Think this is a strong effort. A few production issues, but overall a very good song. Yeah, yeah it has a Neil Young feel, but doesn't every song.....
Great lyrics, by the way.

Very pleased &mdash 06/25/07 - 01:02:48 PM
Even with the problems with the slight distortion in the vocals, I'm really pleased with how this tune turned out overall. And I'm glad it's striking a chord with people.

Thanks for listening.

I love this song... &mdash 06/30/07 - 10:14:54 PM
...and I love the big, brave vocal...

The massed harmony vocals are pretty neat when they kick in.

The only spot where I heard distortion was the final "we'll live on love".

I would love to hear this remixed, with the vocal dryer and more upfront, and with the instruments just a hair less effected as well, but panned around for space and air.

Neat guitar playing in this, too....

Ed

Glad you enjoyed it &mdash 07/04/07 - 09:07:23 PM
This probably will undergo a remix one of these days. I may put in someone else's hands and let them play with it. I also want to redo the vocals to get rid of the minor distortions. I think I got a little too enthusiastic when I was recording and got too close to the mic at times.

I'm getting brave on my vocals as I get a little more confident so I'm more willing to put them front and center. But I still loves my FX, especially my reverb. :)

Thanks for listening, Ed.

This is awesome! &mdash 07/01/07 - 03:55:16 AM
I like the lyrics and the melody seems to be a unique pattern but it works really well, kinda unpredictable

Excellent work! :)
