Hands Up All

Description
This was a poem I wrote a few years ago aimed at a friend of mine who was forever moaning on a website with a 'poor me' attitude, so that people would feel sorry for him. It struck me that there are a lot of people like that who don't understand that we all feel down at times and have bad things happen to us. Well I looked at the GB loop and chopped and messed about with it, adding only a few of the verses, to make this song. It might not be Rhythm and blues as-is, but it's certainly got a souly dancy moving forward movement.

Lyrics
Hands up All.
Intro.
Ooooh! Some people keep on moanin'
One day they're gonna have to fall.
Yeah- yea-ah yea yea yea yea-ah
They keep moanin', moan'
Tellin' us they're feelin' down.
.............
Verse.
Now, Hands all who want to wallow in the misery of the past,
Hands up all who want to stay there,
Hands up quick, you must be fast.
'Cause if you do we're sure to leave you,
You'll be left there on your own.
Life's for living, like a journey.
Are you with us everyone?
Chorus.
Yeah- yea-ah yea yea yea yea-ah
People keep on moan'in',
Tellin' everybody, they're feelin' down.
Verse.
Hands up all who want to join us
As we grab the ladder rail,
Every step to take us upward
To the light we cannot fail.
Reach back try to help the stragglers,
Pull them upward if you can,
But mind the ones who'll pull you downward,
Just to test you; that's their plan.

Chorus. Yeah-ah etc....
Verse.
With hands up, try to reach above you
There you'll find another hand.
Willing just to love and hold you,
and to help you if they can.
Are you willing to go forward
Pulling others to the light?
Casting off the roll of 'Victim',
All that's good within their sight.

Chorus.
Yeah- yea-ah yea yea yea yea-ah etc...

Verse.
Hands up all who want to linger in the past?
I see a few.
I'm begging them.. No! I'm imploring!
Come with us to pasture new.
No holding back, we must go forward
Leaving all that's dark behind.
We ALL were 'Victims', now we're 'Victors'
Travelling on with bright new minds.

Chorus.
Yeah- yea-ah yea yea yea yea-ah etc. ...

Verse.
Hands up all who want to linger in the past?
I see a few.
I'm begging them.. No! I'm imploring!
Come with us to pasture new.
No holding back, we must go forward
Leaving all that's dark behind.
We ALL were 'Victims', now we're 'Victors'
Travelling on with bright new minds.
Chorus.
Yeah- yea-ah yea yea yea yea-ah etc. ...

Every-body, every-body, evry-body Sometimes, somewher feels down.
Every-body has gotta fall at sometime,
But that don't mean, we ain't gonna 'come round'.
Chorus.
Yeah- yea-ah yea yea yea yea-ah etc. ...

Mmm... every body come with me... everybody can't you see.........

Cool Chorus
Moviz, this is cool. Almost Barry White-ish or Earth Wind and Fire inspired! I wanted to hear some of yor stuff since you were nice enough to listen to mine, and I am glad I did. The chorus with the harmonies is the best part!

Sincerely,
Marc

Thanks Marc..
... praise indeed, LOL. I did wonder if it was a bit too retro 70's for MJ, but I just had to give that GB Wah-Wah a go and I thought it went well with the song. Thanks very much for the comment, M

Classy
Very classy track, great vocals/lyrics and catchy backing. I had my headphones at full volume and would have liked the whole production to be louder, but that's probably just me spent too much time listening to loud music and going deaf.
Cheers

Glad..
Of your remarks Len and thanks for the compliments. Just wish I could play guitar like you though for my tracks. I just did a quick listen to your tracks ( still playing catch-up here LOL) and great stuff. Regarding the loudness thing; I just wish I could get the tracks as loud as some on here, but I can't in GB without going in the red. You need some 'Creature Speakers' like mine. They nearly blow the roof off LOL, regards M

Very groovy
Funky song, with a nice vocal performance, and interesting sentiment. You did a great job with the sounds, and the mix is good. Sure, there's retro feel, but it feels natural, not contrived, and suits the song perfectly. Nice work. Thanks for sharing. Peace.

Movies! Well the words seem to be the story of my life LOL. Thanks for that and yes I like the Wah too. I chose that particular wah type because it's.... you guessed it... 'Cry Baby', which of course suits the words. M

Love it
Great track with a great message. Really nice backing tracks but a great handling of the chorus vocal effects.

Perfect mix. Don't worry about LOUD it's overrated as a musical statement and difficult to achieve in the digital world without ruining the music. (just listen to a lot of commercial releases for examples of ruined music.)

Good stuff ... keep the middle age white guy funk comin'

LOL

nice comment
Thanks for the kind words, but I'm older than 'middle' age more like 'two thirds age' LOL and I still like funk LOL (but I'm only eighteen inside). I like everything actually. Variety is the spice of life they say.
With regards to the volume; I downloaded 'Audacity' ( I did that once before and it was very 'Buggy' freezing etc., this time it seems fine) and now I think I'm able to gain some volume that way, but we'll see. Thanks again M

I'm older than middle age too but would never insult someone else of my age by suggesting that they were nearer the end of the roller coaster ride than the beginning LOL
