Description:
This is me playing piano live, with a drummer and bass player at a jazz workshop I took about a year ago, at the University of Indianapolis. The bass player is good, but the drummer is fantastic. Never heard a better Latin Bossa pattern.
The piano was a 5-foot grand. Yamaha, I think. Nice piano. Well-maintained.
I captured the audio with my portable MiniDisk recorder, then transferred the audio to my Mac via GB3 and an eighth-inch stereo mini-plug.

It's been awhile since I've heard anything new from you. &mdash 06/23/07 - 08:33:34 PM
and this is great. I'll bet it would sound even better in a studio! Hopefully, you'll have time to post some things this summer, and I suspect you're working on another CD release. (Maybe? thinkin' about it?) I'm taking one summer school class this year, then teaching a couple of 3 week courses in my own school district.
Anyway - here's hoping for more postings from you this summer. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks, K. &mdash 06/23/07 - 09:44:30 PM
Kristyjo, thanks for your kind words. Yes, actually I have been working on a new CD. I just uploaded the tracks to TuneCore.com last week. Should be on iTunes sometime in August. It's called "Jazz Meets Classical."
Glad to hear you're having a good summer. I don't have to take any classes this summer. All I have to do is get my license renewed before school starts (and I'm sweating it -- there are some snags in the process -- trying to get them worked out next week).
Best regards,
John

Nice little tune..not long enough!!!
I miss doing this kind of music, One of the pit falls
of living in a small town in the midwest. But I still
enjoy playing live with other styles of music.
Great piece!!! more more more!!! [ Reply to This ]
sweet &mdash 06/24/07 - 08:39:02 AM
John, simply a great touch you have. Fluid, innovative and a complete joy to listen to. I agree its too short! :-) Look forward to your next full length track.
Not bad recording from a minidisc recorder! what model do you have if I may ask?

Karma, my MiniDisk is about six years old, and probably not available anymore. It's a Sharp MD-MT90. I use OtterBox mics. I got it from http://www.minidisco.com, which seems to be the premier site for MiniDisc recorder sales.
I have not stopped by your page in a while. I'll have to do that today!

Where've you been?? &mdash 07/07/07 - 01:53:17 PM
I was just thinking I haven't seen you around much lately and today I briefly saw you in the "Who's Online" box. What a lovely little clip. Makes me want to get up and dance...well, get up and learn the bossa nova, and THEN dance. [ Reply to This ]
Thank you, Magritte. &mdash 07/08/07 - 02:59:49 PM
Thanks a lot, Magritte. I have been working on my second CD. It should be out on iTunes in about a month. When it comes out, I will start posting a few more tracks.

this reminds me of staying at a hotel in Chicago - they had a trio playing in the lobby and it sounded a lot like this.
