I love this tune. &mdash 07/06/07 - 08:36:48 PM
This would translate perfectly and beautifully to an acoustic guitar... our old friend Rick would love it...

You get a very pretty chiming tone on this that really suits the lyrical feel of the tune. The melody is very pretty, and, as Tobin correctly notes, 'deceptively simple'. I expect that 'deceptively simple' is going to apply to a lot of what you post here...

I'm completely delighted to be hearing your music again, Mark. It's a real treat...

Welcome to MacJams...

Thank you for the comments. This song would really sound better on a nice steel string-I can't do due it myself because of left hand pain, but I would gladly send music/tab to anyone who would like to play it.(First I have to figure out how to play it again myself.)

Instant Favorite. &mdash 07/07/07 - 07:27:52 AM
The melody is lovely, but the arrangement is sublime! You have so many ways of varying the harmony and voicings- you're just a stellar player- I could listen to you all day.

Like Ed, I agree that this would sound gorgeous on an acoustic guitar, but I also love the "chimey" tone the electric provides. Is this in DADGAD?

Discovering great musicians like you is the reason I love this site. Welcome! I'm glad you're here!

3 great things... &mdash 07/07/07 - 08:31:22 AM
Great piece of music... you wrote a gorgeously captivating piece of music, almost music-box-like in its charm, but with more depth and embellishments... you also played it pretty much flawlessly, lots of warmth in the style... and, you recorded this really well, the guitar sounds very crisp, but with lots of resonance too, not thin and tinny, and no room noise, great recording. I too prefer acoustic over electric usually, but this piece may indeed sound better with the almost mechanical chime tone you give it... I have no critiqies, just a feeling of joy listening to your work, bravo! Welcome to Macjams!

Birdwatcher &mdash 07/08/07 - 03:39:07 PM
When I wrote this I was thinking about an incident that happened when my daughter was about 8.We were out hiking, looking for birds, and she came running up to me."I just saw a cedar waxwing!" She had a look on her face like she had just seen the most incredible thing on earth.(They are pretty common around here but it was her 1st sighting)
So yea,it's a pretty emotional song.Glad you like it.

Your daughter's joy - our joy &mdash 07/08/07 - 05:11:51 PM
The lovely simplicity and soothing mood of this song calls to my mind some of Tommy Emmanuel's quieter pieces.

I feel fortunate that I got a chance, by virtue of hearing this beautiful work, to visit the place your daughter's delight brought you. That's very touching, especially to a guy who has a couple daughters of his own...

Thank you for bringing your music here, Mark. Welcome to MacJams.

Perfect &mdash 07/11/07 - 02:38:51 AM
It's 12:40 AM and I'm just about to head to bed. This is such a charming, sweet lovely song, perfect for the end of the day and so beautifully played. I'm looking forward to hearing much more of your music.

Ooh! I just download the song and opened it in iTunes. Ed may have already advised you of this, but it's a good idea to fill out all the information in iTunes before you upload the mp3, just so that as your music goes traveling about the world, your name and the name of the song go traveling along with it. Also, bonus, you get to make up an album title, which is fun.

I'm very glad you've joined us here. You're obviously a terrific player. Welcome.

Thanks for listening to my song-I'm glad you like it.
I'm a little confused about the itunes thing.Do you mean when I put my own song on itunes or when I download someone else's?
I've been listening to some of your songs-you have a beautiful voice-really great stuff.

Clearer &mdash 07/11/07 - 12:47:19 PM
Sorry not to be clear. ;-p

I mean that when you convert your own song to mp3 in iTunes, that it's a good idea, before uploading it to macjams, to fill out the Name/Artist/Album fields in iTunes. All of that information will get embedded into the mp3 and will show up on the mp3 as listeners download it and play it in their own iTunes.

If you control-click on the name of your song, it will bring up a menu (or right-click if you're on a PC). Click on "Get Info," then click on "Info" at the top of that page, then fill out as much information, as you'd like there. You can also fill out the lyrics tab and embed your song artwork in the mp3, if you're so inclined.

If I can explain any further, please let me know and I'd be happy to help. Again, I loved the song.

Stunningly beautiful. Exquisite... has anyone used that word yet? Because that's what it is. You play with such expressive simplicity... just kind of flows over me, taking my mind off life's small tribulations... very calming.
