Description:
This is track 5 from the album that I've been submitting songs from. This was a studio album recorded in 1998. All analog to tape. I played all acoustic and clean guitar, 1 heavy guitar track. Sang harmony.

Lyrics:
I can tell by the look in your eyes

That no one really cares

Someone's crying out

I can see by the look in your eyes

that you're the one who shares

always giving out

All that I can be is alright

All that I can see is the light

Hey little girl with the pony tails

Hey little boy with the boats you love to sail

Always trying to find

what's hiding deep inside

No one ever showed you how

All that I can be is alright

All that I can see is the light

I can tell by the look in the sky

The stars are really bright

Someone make a wish

I can tell by the look in your eyes

You're thinking's still the same

I will hold your dreams

All that I can be is alright

Alll that I can see is the light

Hardware:
I can only rattle off the guitar equipment used. Washburn 12 string. Fender American Strat. Marshall 1979 SuperLead, Crate BlueVoodoo.

Software:

Well &mdash 08/21/04 - 05:49:32 PM
The music is great !!!
Overall it sounded pretty damn good.
But I have to say I dont like the intro vocal effects.. or
further into the track when they are used again.
I'd love to hear you sing a lead vocal.......HINT!
your harmonies were great, digging the guitar,
nice drumming... and neat ending

Not Garage Band &mdash 08/21/04 - 07:08:11 PM
I know you have asked is it acceptable to post non-
GB tracks. I think by you telling us up front what
you're using lets you off the hook. Plus it gives us a
comparison of how a studio track verses a GB track
differs.

Oh, yeah and back to the song, great as always. Your
singer has a great voice, looking foward to your solo
work.

I want that voice repro quality! &mdash 08/21/04 - 07:15:48 PM
What I hear here in the vocal reproduction I'm not getting
from GarageBand. Analog is righteous! Maybe I need a
better mic and USB A/D converter. Or is it my voice that's
the problem? Dang, this sounds good! Thanks for posting
it. This gives me a standard to seek.

MUSCLE! &mdash 08/21/04 - 07:53:06 PM
I love it! Yes, very close to Alice In Chains, but I'm
guilty of similar activity, heh! I would also like to
hear your vocals as well. I tend to find that people
who do harmony are more solid performers... being
less extravagent and sticking to the plan, but these
are definitely good vocals.

Rocks! Downloaded

Solid Rock... &mdash 08/21/04 - 08:10:43 PM
This is a very good composition. And that is a big
compliment. The heavy rock sound is not my cup of tea,
but good musical skills, compositon always win out. The
intro vocals as per Slimmie, I concur. Other than that,
great song and I look forward to hearing more or your
stuff.

professional sounding &mdash 08/21/04 - 11:19:18 PM
Excellent musical material, good production and
performance.

Great drums and your guitar playing makes it all come
alive, along with the vocals (especially the harmonies --
NICE!) I do agree with Slimmie about the vocal distortion
effect. Maybe if it were a bit lighter.....neat concept
though.

The music content is high quality, it has a lot of depth and
interest. Funny because I usually don't gravitate towards
this genre as a rule, but I'm finding I'm breaking a LOT of
rules here on MacJams lately! Thanks for broadening my
horizons.

smooth odd time sig at the front &mdash 08/22/04 - 10:00:49 AM
sort of Rush-y but not as obvious. Again EXCELLENT
guitar sound, Very nice chords. Singer sounds like a cross
between the guy from Metallica and Ronnie James Dio. I
actually didn't pick up on the time sig. at first which, in
my book means you did it right. Hmmm only problem is
that ending...bit on the weak side, even the toms sound a
bit "boxy" but that's minor.

What was your band called?

smooth odd time sig at the front &mdash 08/22/04 - 10:21:34 AM
The band was called "Out of the Blue". Funny you mention Dio (i don't think
that anyone ever has) but that's one of the only influences the singer would
cite.

I often write in odd time sigs (my drummer hated me for it sometimes) and
would sometimes change the sig frequently (thus disliking me more) but it
always made sense to listen to. I couldn't tell you what they were when I was
doing them, but they 'sounded' right.

The drums were boxy because our drummer REFUSED to change the dead
heads on his kit before we hit the studio... dumbass. It's one of my biggest
complaints about our cd. We couldn't do anything to it when we mixed it.

Thanks for all of the great comments everyone.

too much push &mdash 08/23/04 - 02:36:42 PM
I agree with the first comment, that the unintelligible lyrics are off-putting. in generral, there is not enough space to breathe, perhaps too much compression. intense music is exciting when there are moments to contrast the energy to. that is, perhaps, the main differencwe between this and the best of the prog rock genre. aside from these things, this is a very good track.

few people... &mdash 08/24/04 - 11:05:46 PM
...can pull off the Layne Staley style and still sound good!
(phew, lots of s's.)

great track. ahhh, refreshing. :)

very cool &mdash 08/25/04 - 04:09:06 PM
The guitars sound great. I also like the 8/8-7/8 measure combo that you throw in througout the tune. Really gives things a different feel. The big backing vox section fits surprisingly well.

You may have submitted &mdash 08/26/04 - 12:09:23 PM
other songs from this album, but I think I've only heard
one other one. This one is MUCH better in my opinion.
This a hot song that does not sound nearly as "aged" as
the other one I heard. I hear references to Alice in Chains
regarding this band's music, but it took a long time for
me to figure out who you remind me of: Days of the New.
Electrified, of course, but I if they were to plug in, that's
largely how I would expect them to sound. I always liked
them, so trust me this is a good thing. Great track. And,
as far as it not being GB, who cares? I thought this was
MacJams, not GBJams. Of course, no Macs
appear to have been harmed in the making of this song,
but I know you produce other stuff using Macs, so I really
don't care: good song! I do agree with the comment
regarding the effect on the vocals at the beginning of the
song, and that's the only reason I'm giving the production
on this song a 7. 8s otherwise.

Very strong &mdash 08/26/04 - 04:04:13 PM
8-6-8-8

Great changes and dynamics. Rocks real good. I gigged
the production for the oddness on the vocals in the intro
and the midpoint. Overall, sounds like pro stuff.

I posted my comments a few days back, and as I said, I
think this a very good song. I didn't have time to listen
carefully (at work) so I did not vote. I just read your "I got
bombed". So I have listened, and now have cast my
ballot..... Straight nines from Dadai. A heart felt
evaluation and hopefully somewhat an antidote to a set of
low votes undeserved.

Straight 8s! &mdash 08/29/04 - 10:08:46 AM
This song rocks. I found the effects a bit much on
the vocals. But the lyrics and driving rythms kept my
head bobbin'. Had to give it 8s across the board.
Little clean up on the vocals and I might have to give
out my first 9. Great song. Thanks for sharing.
