Description:
This was my first attempt at the LIOLI#1 (or 5 depending on how long you had been with macjams) and maybe I should of had more faith in it, I don't know. You macjammers can help with that question with some comments and/or ratings. The two samples used are of course the desert flute and the wontback 03 (GMaj), because its just a single note, sorry it was a lazy choice. However there are some original pieces in this track that I made instead of relying on websites for loops. Anyway you can decide for yourselves whether I made a good choice as you can also hear the track I submitted for the challenge (L.O.L.@LIOLI). Enjoy :-)

very interesting things happening here. Great infectious beat, reminds me of machinery in a factory. I have no idea how you managed to do this - very impressive. I really love that loop.
Cheers

Thanks and hope my explaination is not too long and boring &mdash 07/02/07 - 04:40:49 PM
I'm glad you liked the tune and thanks for the comment. The first loop was done by creating a rhythm of snares, then putting vst fx over them (phaser+camel crusher), then exporting it to create one track, then putting more vst fx over that one track. Since I can only put two vst fx per wav track, I thought that I can export them to one track and add more fx. I think this is called 'back tracking' and I got this idea from Lee 'Scratch' Perry (with his amazing dubs created on a four track) and strangely enough Paul McCartney (when he showed how to 'back track' at a one off gig at the apple studios that was broadcast on tv). P.s. Camel crusher is a brilliant vst fx (also my secret is now out).

Thanks for the explanation Keith, I still have no idea how you did this, but sounds great.

Sorry. &mdash 07/02/07 - 05:18:54 PM
Sorry, yes I rambled too much. Basically create music/rhythms+vst fx - export mixdown, so you create a single track. Then put that single track into a song.

I really like the rhythm bed you made &mdash 07/03/07 - 01:48:58 PM
it's cool when tracks are built from scratch. Nice cut-ups on the flute too.

yikes! wall-to-wall effects happening here. it's great.

i like when you bring in the flute and then break it all up - cool.

that rhythm loop especially towards the end is ethereal.

thanks!

Thanks alot and glad you liked it. Yes there are alot of effects in this track. I am only limited to a computer and a basic sequencer, so I have to be creative with the loops, effects and sequencing, esp. since I cannot play an instrument, but I have a burning desire to make nice but warped tunes.
