Description:
Here's my new one. I wrote this with a FEMALE VOCAL in mind. A buddy of mine work with Dido in England and suggested that I write a song with her in mind and this is what came out. R.C. Brown did that lead guitar in the background, to give him credit.

dave - what a great track - you rough and ready vocal wroks really well with the beats, reminds me of Happy Mondays a bit. The instrumentation is great, really got a good groove, and the guitar sits nicely on this, all supporting your almost stream of conciousness vocal. Great.
Sudden end though - this feels like half the length it should be.

Well, I was never intended to sing this one, that's why I never properly ended it. I still want a female singer to sing on it and then I'll loop it and fade it or whatever.

No need to have someone else sing it. Your best track yet. Consider a version without the cut off ending? Also, the percussion is perhaps slightly too loud. I particularly like the vocal style and catchy tune aspect juxtaposed with an edgy feel. [ Reply to This ]

...especially when the driving bass kicks in. Really like the tones on the guitars and the way you have layered the sounds. Very interesting use of percussion in places. Good work here Dave!

I'm really glad you like this one. It's not realy my specialty, but I like writing in different genres. And for someone like you to give positive feedback is very encouraging.
BTW, I wish I had DSL at home so I could go deeper into the site, but I can't. I have to do everything from work, but I try my best.

want to move. Great song. The beats are terrific - maybe a little loud in the mix, or perhaps the vocal should just be higher? I know what you mean about writing for a certain kind of vocal, but I can't imagine this without the great performance you give here. Should I mention the abrupt ending, or have you gotten the hint?! with the lyrics. Really liked the music also. It ended rather abruptly though - the words "probably" and "a glimpse of hope" juxtapose the message of the rest of the song suggesting more. (hope and faith and love) Killer chorus!!! Glad to have given this one a listen. [ Reply to This ]

The lyrics are good and flow well through the music. The song backing is cool, and great job playing bass/guitar there. The singing is slightly too far back in the mix, and the melody line seemed slightly monotonous throughout, sort of droning on just a few notes... that may also be due to the very even rhythm of the lyrics flowing, which got almost hypnotic (good and bad thing.) Maybe a bigger change in singing/instruments between main and chorus? Maybe add a second voice singing harmony during the chorus? And having the end just chop off, I am assuming was a mistake... that was an abrupt way to end the song. It is best to listen to the final mp3 before posting it, and make sure all is well, don't rush it.
