Description
Trying to catch up: song 18 in the average-a-song-a-week-for-a-year project. This one was cowritten and sung by my wife, Eshinee. We posted our demo long, long ago. Did a "real" studio version since then, which sounded stilted. Recorded this live at a neighbor's house a few days ago. I overdubbed the other folk instruments (accordion, fiddle, bodhran) when we got home. This song is featured in the Neverwinter Nights 2 module cycle Dark Waters by Adam Miller and references themes and images from the game. The graphic is a screen shot from the game.

Wow. How cool to stumble upon this. Sparse, authentic, full of emotion, so clear and direct; I could see you (Eshinee) singing in a barmaid outfit, moving between the wooden tables as you spun the yarn. Delightful.

Back in my early 20s, I was practicing bass three hours a day, playing in a band with a drummer who practiced six hours a day and a guitarist who was one the "up and coming" lead guitar players of my home town. Plus, I was writing a song every day. I... [see more]
