I love all kinds of blues. It's amazing the emotion that can be brought out with basically 3 chords.
I've been listening to some of your classical stuff.Wonderful!

very nice &mdash 07/10/07 - 02:28:34 PM
tune you have here, i imagine a softly lit stage with a stool taken up by a man and his guitar

mellow with a great ending!

Nice tribute, Mark... &mdash 07/10/07 - 07:24:52 PM
This has a nice "rolling" feeling that seems to be very ignorant ears to have elements of a slow ragtime combined with bits of John Hurt... But what do I know, I'm still trying to get a consistent alternating bass under my thumb...

It's very cool that you have the chops that you do and yet you can also get so much music out of relatively simple elements. I imagine those two qualities are not unrelated...

after reading the forum, i took a whirl through your library, and i like what i hear.. i can definately see why everyone went to you to learn soloing.... the page influence is there, layered with your own beautiful style..

Page &mdash 07/12/07 - 11:42:46 PM
Amazing that you can hear Page in there, but you are right,I think I know just about every Zeppelin song.
One of the 1st things I ever tried to play fingerstyle was "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You"

Nicely Done &mdash 07/13/07 - 03:13:37 PM
Amazing how easy it is to get into those old blues grooves... and oh, so effortlessly.

A very clean guitar sound, too. What kind of axe did you use?

It's an old (77) Ibanez Strat into a Line 6 Tone Port-extremely basic setup. Thanks for your comment.

The right pace &mdash 07/13/07 - 06:02:18 PM
It's easy for this style to run away with your fingers...but you calmly control the entire piece and will not be mastered by your digits... fact is, my ears tell me that they have been doiing your bidding for quite awhile... the pace is perfect... i should have said that in the first place... real mastery of the fretboard here... a pleasure to listen to...

deep bow... and welcome to MJ

Totally digging this. You play with style and taste; nothing there that shouldn't be. It reminds me a bit of Chet Atkins, one of my first guitar heroes, long before I was into John Williams. I just love this!

Williams &mdash 07/14/07 - 08:02:26 PM
John Williams is one of my heroes. No one plays with as little effort as he does.
I love classical guitar-haven't been able to play it for years because of left hand problems.
If you have never heard Lenny Breau, check him out-he's another one of my favorites.
Thanks for your comments!

I'm a fan of Lenny Breau as well, and have some of his albums on vynl. There's a fantastic documentary about him that you probably have seen called "the genius of Lenny Breau" (1999). It just blows me a away every time I see it.

What happened to your LH? You can respond via a note ("Mailbox") if you like.

Wow &mdash 07/17/07 - 02:18:40 PM
I love the consistincy of your playing. The attack of your right hand rolls along with machine-like precision, made all the more impressive by the subtle style and instrument tone.

Well done!

Very nice blues there Mark &mdash 09/28/07 - 10:59:45 PM
Ya know, when my hands worked, I could play stuff like that almost as good as you do with your hand not working right. That was a long time ago though, like somewhere in the mid to later 60's.

This is well played, sounds great, and nobody doesn't like the blues. All it needs to top it off is a good Bass line, and maybe some Drums and you'll have a genuine hit on your hands.

Way to go Mark, it's outstanding in all ways.

Ed

Thanks for &mdash 10/01/07 - 10:21:05 PM
commenting on my blues tune.My hand actually works pretty well-there's just a short circuit somewhere that can cause nasty pain if I'm not careful.
I'm really enjoying listening to your country songs. You have an incredible gift for songwriting and a terrific voice. Also your guitar playing sounds great-you always play something that fits the song perfectly.(Not an easy thing to do)
