Description:
I got my PowerBook G4 and MIDI interface working with my old Roland HP 1700L after all! I've been knacking away at this little excuse for a tune in my spare time. I've come to like it a lot, and I hope you do too. My songs have been getting longer lately, this one surpassing Walking with Angels in its length. It's not quite as powerful as Walking with Angels though. Only regret is the terrible compromises GB makes me make as far as the power and energy of beats. Other than that, GB has served me well. Enjoy!

Hardware:
PowerBook G4 1.0 Ghz, MIDISport Uno, Roland HP 1700L Digital Piano

Software:
Garageband 2.0 (3.0 is SO much better), RM IV

long dark passage &mdash 07/12/07 - 11:53:13 AM
First, I'll mention that standard trance isn't my favorite genre, because it tends to be dance music, not "sit and listen" music... however, you chose a good dark soundbed to play on, and the synths you chose are cool! The main central drum and super-fast snares (like most trance music) always bother me a bit because they are loud and fake-sounding.

But, you do nice slow builds in this piece, and introduce a couple of different leads, which keeps it more interesting throughout. You may want to try a little more variety in the backing sound though, keep the beat going, but drop out or change many of the instruments in one spot, then slowly bring the originals back, things like that to give variety & sparkle. Very good job... glad you have your keyboard hooked up!

so cool &mdash 07/12/07 - 06:59:18 PM
Hey man, this had me bobbin my head, hard. It honestly sounds pretty much professional, like Im in some crazy German dance club. The mood set by the echo-ing piano really took a hold at the end, nice work for real.

Wow! &mdash 07/12/07 - 07:07:37 PM
Thanks! I thought of adding the piano like 10 minutes before i uploaded it. Glad you like it! I just realized (to my embarassment!) that i left in the "you make me wonder" vocals I was experiencing with. Thanks for commenting!

Well done &mdash 08/19/07 - 05:02:50 PM
I know I'm going to sound like I'm repeating myself, but it shows that you are growing as an artist. Even though you think it is not as good as Walking with Angels, I think you show with this track that you know better understanding of the trance genre and also how to use the equipment better.
