Description:
Just another piano solo with too much reverb. I recorded all my songs at same time with nothing changed on the sound effects so sound quality not the best, but is still a work in progress. Please, tell me what you think.

this has a delicate sweetness... another really enjoyable piece by you. I'm very glad I stumbled across your work (and I keep poking at other MJers to come listen to you, hope you don't mind :-) This has a kind of "sweeping"quality, where you slow and speed up, which gives me this double-image of "the poise of a lady, the playfulness of a little girl". I like it a great deal, and look forward to more of your pieces. I assume you have them memorized, or you've copied them to sheet music, so you can play them again when your brother lets you use the studio again, this time capturing the MIDI so you can work with different piano sounds/effects without re-recording? I agree that a little less/different reverb would help some, but it is actually a pretty darned good sounding piano anyway, and your touch on the keys is great.

My oh My! If you ever come to Texas, I will give you a great big hug! You have been so kind to me and I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate it! And no, I do not mind if you send people to listen, I consider that a compliment as well - whether they comment or not. Your comment about the double image of a lady and the little girl makes me smile! All of my life I have always been a "daddy's girl" and even now at the ripened age of shhhh! 47...I still think the same way. (And of course I am a lady) The crazy part is that , no I did not memorize these pieces. They were original as I played them. The true purpose of the recording was for me, so I would have something to go back to and re-teach myself the songs. Is that nuts or what? I have been told I am crazy from time to time. :) Now I am told there is software that prints out the notes as you play so you don't have to be nutty...imagine that! I am having the best time learning so many things about recording and changing things up a bit. You honor me with your comments and I thank you again for listening to my music and also my rantings.

This is another enchanting piece of piano music.
The reverb, to me, was fine.
Take care.
Paul.

You have been very kind to me as well and I sincerely appreciate your comments. Music is a lot of different things for different people and I can tell from your music that you really enjoy making it. I enjoy listening to it. I also enjoy, as I am sure we all do, hearing that my music was soothing, or pretty or whatever. Our music is a piece of us. Our hearts - if you will. Thank you for letting me share and thanks for listening and commenting once again.
your reverb and tone sound fine. it sounds live, which you say it was... sounds great to me!
second, you have such a feel for timing, and really are able to make the music "breathe" and a very delicate touch.
as with the others you have posted, this is a work of art.
completely wonderful!

Your words are very encouraging to me. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen to my music and comment. I had the pleasure of checking out some of yours also. Very impressive! You are really great at making music! Lots of talent there for sure. By the way, I read your profile and we have some things in common. God comes first for me too -and I also have two gorgeous daughters that I am so proud of. :) Anyway...thank you thank you and thank you. I look forward to hearing more of your music.
very nicely done. beautiful slow build, and a lovely arrangement of moods from quiet delicacy to lush fullness. i think there is nothing so gorgeous as a perfectly played piano. reverb works for me! really enjoyed this - thank you. anne

I really appreciate your comments. So kind of you to stop by and let me know what you think. I am glad you enjoyed it. Regarding your own talents...Please do not be offended in any way, but I was born back in 1960 and I recall sitting down with my parents and listening to the Lawrence Welk show. Your beautiful harmonies with your sister remind me of that time...such pretty, peaceful sounds that reminded me of a wonderful time growing up. I love it. Thanks again for sharing yours and for listening to mine!

As the title implied very gentle and very smooth. Piano playing is superb. Reverb or not-it is up to you. For me personally I use plenty of it. It adds to the mystery of one's playing I believe. Thank you for sharing this one and welcome again to a great community!
Cheers,
Patrick

Thank you so much for the kind comments. Coming from you, I bow humbly to your compliments. Your music is extremely good and I thoroughly enjoy listening to it. I look forward to much more. I have really enjoyed the short time I have been here. The people could not be any nicer or more helpful! Thanks again for listening!

I don't mind "to much verb" whenit seems to create a believable space... this works... and your playing is heartfelt and emotional... are these musical peices stream of conscience or written in advance.. either way you are very at home massaging the ivory
gail60
I appreciate that very much. This was just a "make up as you" go kind of thing. There was no plan to let others hear it, not like this anyway. A friend talked me into that part. :) This project was really for me so I could go back and learn what I had played to begin with. I have a memory problem sometimes. I play ok by ear, but I thought by recording my playing, it might help me learn to memorize it. For example, my husband will ask me to play the song I played yesterday, and I cannot recall enough of it to sound the same way. Very frustrating but true. I am behind the times as far as technology and was talking to Drak about the new types of things people can purchase to record on paper what they are playing while they are playing it....that will be awesome for me one of these days.... Ooops, was that a long enough response for you?...sorry bad habit of mine. Anyway I really appreciate you stopping by and listening. I am honored and I respect your opinion so much. Thanks!
...or not, this is still a lovely piece. I can't find any fault with it. So let me just say thanks and welcome to MJ!
Take care and keep em coming!
gail60
I am so sorry that I missed your kind comment. I hate when that happens. I am getting old! :) Seriously, I really appreciate that you came by and listened and commented. Glad you liked it!

But what do i know? i just know your melodies are so moving, they make me cry. Not from sdaness, exactly; moe like longing. So heartfelt, so beautiful... Ahhhh....
gail60
I really appreciate your kind comments. Coming from you, they are even sweeter because I love your talent as well. I would love to work on something together sometime. I have no clue how that works, but it would be a great experience. Thanks for listening.

I Love this. This is so nice to listen to. You are very talented and although my time is short at the moment I will make a definite effort to hear more of your writing.
Thanks again.

The voice of an angel paying me a compliment. Wow! Thank you kindly. I really appreciate you stopping by for a listen. I love your work. Look forward to hearing much more.

the beginning it really gets tender, but of course nice intro.
This has great reflective qualities. Terrifc qualities in the structure. Love the new age sound that you display. Kind of reminds me of a river gently moving on its way out to sea. But the tale of the river has a gentle tale.
The trills and frills are quite thrilling!
You really have a LOT to offer in this piece. It really is full of very nice musical material. Faelin has a great point is the time. You really have a gift for fine timing. You really roll along quite nicely on this!!
Way to Go Gail60!

Your piano playing sounds so natural, never contrived and the simplicity of your melodies is charming and inspiring. I like how you structure your improvisations - you repeat the "theme" enough times to make an impact but back it up with a variety of nicely flowing piano magic.
I agree with the sound and reverb you mention, but to your credit you compensate by making the piano sound good enough the sound effects don't even matter that much. And with only a few posts, I think you've already established yourself as one of the best piano players around here (in case you haven't come across his music, listen to Paul F. Page, he's another fantastic piano player and composer here on MJ).
gail60
You are way too kind! Thank you so much for being so gracious with your comments. It means so much to me. I am glad you enjoyed my music. You are right...Paul Page is fantastic and I love his music also. I became a fan of his almost immediately and after listening to your music I am now a fan of yours too! Talk about talent....WOW! I sincerely appreciate your comments and for listening!

This a very nice improv. Lots of feeling and emotion. Well played. Found this via your forum posting. I'll have to check out the rest of your tunes! You'll find MJ to be a nice place to spend time with a very supportive group of folks (especially for those of us from Class of '77 (or so :-)))
gail60
Thank you for coming by and I am so glad you enjoyed this song. I appreciate the kind words. You know, all of us 70's people have to stick together. :)
Magritte
I too have trouble getting my piano to sound exactly the way I want it to. I wish I could offer mixing suggestions but I will say nothing distracted me from enjoying this very warm and sweet journey of a song.
gail60
Thank you Magritte for stopping by and listening. What a nice thing for you to say. I appreciate that so much. I am glad you enjoyed it and am looking forward to hearing yours as well!
DAVID RAIMOND
You have a nice touch on the keys. It is flowing smooth and touches the heart. Great piano sound.
gail60

...just beautiful, Gail. Such a sweet song and so lovingly played. I feel like you backed off on the reverb on this one and, for me, it works a lot better. It%u2019s much more natural. But above all, the composition itself is moving in it%u2019s ability to evoke emotion. Just terrific stuff. What a wonderful addition you are to the classical line-up (which is all too tiny) at MJ.
gail60
You have no idea how much your words mean to me. Thank you for listening and commenting. I consider it such an honor coming from you.

Gail, your playing and composition just sweep me away. Every musician strives for this in some way, in their playing, or composition or lyric. You attain it. Each and every piece is personal and expressive.
Thanks,

I am simply not worthy... I have somehow let these slide by and I'm so sorry.
This is gorgeous, delicate, amazing, sweet, and compelling... It makes me want to play like you although I know that is impossible... the desire is still there!

sigh sigh sigh sigh...maybe someday karen and i can get you in on one of our collabs. wouldn't that be amazing?

distinctly feminine about the melody; gentle and nuturing. Very comforting. Thanks.
