#21: Maiden Faire

Description
This is another song written for the Dark Waters computer game series. One of the themes in the world mythology is that there is a world beyond ours inhabited with fairies who sometimes try to cross over into this. This reminded Eshinee of classic European folklore related to changelings, so she wrote this song about children who won’t be there “in the morn.” She sings. I provide sparse accompaniment on guitar and accordion.

Time machine
This is like entering a time machine, and stepping out in a royal English court around 1550. The vocal is affecting and draws one in. Her vibrato is easy and just right.

So you just wrote this? This is not an ancient song like "Greensleeves?" If so, that's really impressive songwriting.

As I listen to the lady singing, I am more and more impressed with how easy she makes this all seem. Many singers struggle to achieve a sound as natural and appealing as this young lady's.

Back in my early 20s, I was practicing bass three hours a day, playing in a band with a drummer who practiced six hours a day and a guitarist who was one the "up and coming" lead guitar players of my home town. Plus, I was writing a song every day. I... [see more]
