A great song Walter..... &mdash 07/22/07 - 12:56:27 PM
Another exceptional song Walter and for such a good cause.
The line 'for giving love and be loved in return' is brilliant although I didn't understand it until I had heard it phrased in the context of the song.
The backing sounds perfect and very well produced.
I hope everything goes well with the project and that it could be the springboard to other things.
Take care.

Walter, this is a great track you've written and for a worthy cause. I wish you luck on the CD as well. I especially liked the (Tic Tac) part. It was very reminiscent of a Danny Elfman soundtrack. Truely, very nice work, as usual, Walter. Take care and be well, my friend! Peace!

Another collab sounds great! I would love to do that with you at some point very soon. I have been extremely busy at work and even my personal life as well. I do find a bit of time very late at night on weekends tho. I wish I had more time to write music. I could spend many many hours doing that. I have a new track up on my page. Drakonis has suggested a vocal track would compliment it very well. DocBizzarre has also suggested a vocal track too. Stop by when you have the time and have a listen and see if it is something you might be interested in. If not, then I am always coming up with new ideas. I've been wanting to do a slower, darker piece similar to 'She Comes In Black', so this would be a perfect opportunity to do so. Take care, Walter. Be well!

I was wondering ... &mdash 07/22/07 - 06:03:24 PM
... what you'd do with the backing track, and this is definitely no disappointment. Excellent lyrics (is there a French or Flemish version?) over that excellent bed - the cello sound is incredible. Light and shade and emotional depth both lyrically and musically - this is such a sophisticated piece Walter. What a fine contribution for the CD you've done - I bet you're especially proud of this one.

Haunting &mdash 07/23/07 - 07:34:53 AM
This is really nicely done, as usual. The words are poetic and evocative, and stay with me long after the song is over. Is "tic tac" the equivalent to "tick tock" (clock sound)? Have you thought about maybe adding a string bass to any part of this? I could imagine a jazz bass player being part of this, and it might add to it.
Wonderful construction! Haunting. [ Reply to This ]

Your such a welcome visitor! Tic Tock? Damned, i thought Tic Tac was the right english expression... always in a stage of learning :-) Any way, i will probably redo the vocals in a pro studio, so i will be able to correct this mistake.
Thanks for your suggestion of the string bass and the jazz bass player. I would like so much to do a song once with real musicians...

Thank you, Clark, for mentioning "Tic Tac" (in English, it's actually "ticktock"), as I was distracted by thinking of the Tic Tac breath mint. ;-)
I wondered, also, about "crawing", as I'm unfamiliar with such a word in English.
It's been said that art is in the eye of the beholder, but I'm always curious about the artist's perspective or, in this case, what this song means to you, Walter, in terms of your understanding of hep C and how it is represented by the song's lyrics & music.
Thank you for having applied your talents to a song dedicated to hepatitis C. =) [ Reply to This ]

No doubt about it: &mdash 07/24/07 - 10:36:35 PM
This song touches one's sensitivity in so many places and so poignantly addresses this awful situation. It was a noble goal to create a piece of music of lyrics that could stir the soul, but you have accomplished that with a powerful track. I would love to see the visuals behind this music: a virtual billboard of caution and hope and despair and longing and....and...and... all the things H-C connotes. (Balance of the lower strings is sometimes a little loud to my ears. Might be something to give another listen to. Your inventive orchestration really made me sit up and listen. Cool.)
Peace.

I love your idea of the visuals behind the music. That would make a great videoclip. Hmmm... i'm inspired.
I'll also listen carefully to your suggestion about the lower strings. Is it the chorus you are talking about? Then it must be the cello...
Thanks so much again for your wonderful and uplifting comment. This is really very much appreciated!

Nicely done production, with a good sense of musical theatricality and emotion.
Throw a little flute alongside your vocal stylings in this mix --- and a few shots of Jack Daniels into me and... I might very well be persuaded that you're actually Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull).
And props to you for donating your time and talent to this effot.

You've aced the production on this, Walter - this is just awesome. Beautiful and heartfelt, I love how the cello backs up the chorus vocal - they work so well together. One of the best things you've done ... music for drak , smoke-filled rooms.
Agree with the danny Elfman references ... this is up to his very high standards.

what a treat. I remember thinking how beautiful the piece stood alone (is there a new intro?), and how difficult it would be to write lyrics to it. I could see how it took you a lot of energy, as it took me a lot of energy to listen to the story of your song. I love how you chose to make it a personal, individual's story. You help us to feel what the disease is. You are a gift to the world. More and more I think to myself, if this is your poetry in English, which is not your first language, what must it be like to read the words you've written in your native language. I can only imagine.
Anyway, the writing is so strong, that the amazing music that captured me last time took a back seat to the story, while complimenting and supporting it. Great song. [ Reply to This ]
