listening again i like it more than i did the first time
around!

we've recently had a discussion here at mj about posting
lyrics... please post them!!! i can understand them well but
it's still useful.

nice harmonies. solid playing. unique voice. it would
sound very compelling with a full band especially coming
in strong toward the end... but the delicacy of this works
wonderfully. beautiful.

Great vocal timbre and control. And the guitar work!
Wonderful. Great dynamics. Reverb is perfect. Might be a
tad on the crisp side. Can you give the song a little more
fullness on the lower end of the sound spectrum? A much
better listen after downloading to iTunes and applying
R&B equalizer setting!

Your vocals have a unique quality, with a compelling
vibrato and delivery. The songwriting is imaginative and
interesting. Good harmonies!

I like your guitar accompaniment without any other
instruments. It is "simple" on one hand, but wonderfully
rich and complex on the other, with little variations.

The mix does sound just a bit "hot", with highs
emphasized. The volume level was on the verge of
distorting in the very highest peaks in the song (on my
headphones at least), but not quite. You may want to
bring it down just slightly.

The ending chord seemed a bit short to me...it would have
been nice to hold it out, let it ring more. This would have
provided more dramatic impact to the rather intense
content of the song.

nice catch rschletty, I actually did a lot of bass cut on the guitar when I mixed it. I listened to it again carefully and you're right, I did overdo it a bit. I made a remix with a bit less EQ and it does sound much better. I would post the updated version but I'm not sure how you can update the song file without submitting it as a new song... I'm kindda new here

thanks cameron, I only left about 0.5dB headroom when I normalized it, and on top of that this particular recording wasn't compressed very much at all because I wanted to reserve the dynamics, so I guess I'm not surprised there're some higher peaks. they sounded ok on my monitor but I'll check it out with different systems and see how it is

What is so wonderful about this song cannot be
discussed in terms of production. It is simply such an
intimate outpouring of heart. My only critique would be
that it sounds like you are singing, "I walk through duh
rain." Maybe its the way you're recording the vocals. Just
a minor thing, tho. I like your lyrics a great deal. This is a
precious song performed with great emotion and it
touched me deeply.

I really enjoyed this - you've got a really distinctive voice
and it lends itself well to the emotion of this song. It
sounds so heartfelt which makes me believe what you're
singing so much more.
