Fantastic &mdash 07/29/07 - 04:15:58 AM
Just when I thought the ideas for this game were used up, this inspired track proves me wrong (I like being proved wrong in these circumstances). I really like this clever piece of ambient mood music. Well done, its definately up there with the best. [ Reply to This ]
Simply gorgeous and mystifying &mdash 07/29/07 - 05:14:31 AM
you made this game all your own. Great twist on the challenge - very original and beautifully executed. [ Reply to This ]

Very righteous. What software are you using to achieve such splendid effects? This is a radical departure from the easy solution. Betrayal must be washed away in a stream of artful passion. [ Reply to This ]
Thank you &mdash 07/31/07 - 06:48:40 AM
The software I mainly use is a combination of Logic Pro and Soundforge. The effects are created by careful splicing and manipulations of the original source material (in this case, Rebsies voice) Deconstructed and then reconstructed....its not unlike having a jigsaw puzzle with 50 pieces, throwing all them all into a bag and then only taking 25 out which you are then allowed to copy and rearrange as you like in order to make a completely new picture....
Thank you for stopping by and listening...I am glad you enjoyed this

so deeply sorrowful..you have taken a piece of the vocal line and turned it into something completely different. this is so out of my league.. it is like advanced musician 101 [ Reply to This ]
Simply stunning! &mdash 07/29/07 - 11:33:31 AM
What a wonderfully inventive take on this game!
You've stolen the show and departed from the obvious (which I feel is where I went!) - it's great to hear how others operate with the same raw material as a starting point.
Very atmospheric and filmatic. I really like this. Well done!

You played the game... &mdash 07/29/07 - 04:05:25 PM
...but changed the rules! Ha ha....And that to good effect!
Really nice and spacey take on this piece. You really worked some sonic magic with Rebsies already mystical vox. Beautiful!
Be well man!

Very nonlinear &mdash 07/29/07 - 07:14:10 PM
Hey.... Finally someone who has dared take the melody apart and rearrange the pieces. Ok, make that: throw away most of the pieces.
I find it interesting to see what solutions people have found to deal with the implied harmonies of the silly melody. That first ascending fourth is such a non-pop interval and it ties you so strongly to the tonic, to one harmony, almost to one idiom, that the biggest challenge of this tune is how to get away from it.
I applaud your notion of just taking a bit of melody that is not has harmonically deterministic. And what you do with it is of course excellent. Great pad of sounds over which Rebsie's vocals can float.
Victor.

I dig non-linear VERY much &mdash 07/31/07 - 09:44:23 PM
Thank you Victor - I really apreciate you taking the time to comment like this.
You got pretty close to hitting the nail right on the head in regards to the way I approach my music.

Magical, mesmerising... &mdash 07/29/07 - 10:40:46 PM
I had totally forgotten about those two spur-of-the-moment improv tracks that were included in the file of vocals I sent.
To see how you've incorporated them here...simply brilliant.
I love this mix, and Rebsie's voice sparkles and speaks so clearly against the perfect backdrop.
I'll say it again...
Brilliant!

Thank you Cat...for all the encouragement you have given to me over the last year or so and for your willingness to engage in something that is a bit different.
Your 'forgotten' vocals work so well in this track, how could I not use them?

this is just so bloody clever. The king of ambient strikes again.
Superbly put together from extreme left field.
True class :-)

brilliant &mdash 07/30/07 - 08:44:16 PM
really cool what you've done. I picture your studio awash in candles and flickering led's. Mad experimental electronics that only you know the design and function obeying to your every command. You are the master. This is truly a cut above. [ Reply to This ]

uncatchable &mdash 07/31/07 - 02:03:40 PM
This is a brilliant track. The first unvocalised part starts off as an uncatchable rhythm part in my ears. Very nice break near the middle. This song could have lost quite a lot longer, with new developments and surprises... in fact i was waiting for that. Just because i liked so much what i heard. Neat!

a real trip &mdash 08/01/07 - 12:02:37 PM
What's it about this week that I just can't stop clicking on Macjams songs, even after I've promised myself to have a break from MJ?.. lots of really great songs this week... whew!...i'm on my way to a vacation (plane is leaving in a few hours), and here I am still enjoying every wonderful second of these wonderful songs. And it's worth every second of it... it's like i'm already hours ahead in my trip... on an exotic adventure listening to this awesome sound. [ Reply to This ]
What a nice trip... &mdash 08/02/07 - 01:54:29 PM
SUPERB &mdash 08/03/07 - 01:41:04 PM
Love the music to this - very haunting. Not so keen on the bass following those two notes all the time, though. Doesn't sound right to me - out of tune sometimes. Great vocals (of course!) and great production. [ Reply to This ]

Original, different and clever &mdash 08/04/07 - 06:32:57 PM
Wowee! I didn't even recognise my own voice to start with, it sounds so good!! The single distant disembodied voice completing the verse at the end is a very powerful finish.
I've been friends with Cat for such a long time and we've discussed collabs in the past, but this is the first time I've heard our voices together. Complementary indeed. [ Reply to This ]
Intensely, beautifully eerie &mdash 09/03/07 - 11:02:05 PM
Excellent production! And the title gives a strong context to the ambient soundbed. I like how you end with Rebsie's song - subtlely powerful and evocative. It's great to be always surprised by the different things you do with sounds and voices - and how your musical experience and maturity shines through each new song. Beautiful... [ Reply to This ]
Oh, i'm so glad i stumbled onto this &mdash 11/06/07 - 12:14:00 AM
How does that happen?!
I'm familiar with Rebsie and Mystified but had no idea when i clicked on this that i would find them inside. What a neat surprise.
And i love the way you have put this together, i am not good at describing what i mean but it has such a nice feel, that is an understatement, really. [ Reply to This ]
