.. the backing is fabulous...man the drummer goes
wild :o) vocals perhaps a little more compression
and less or different reverb... sounds a bit 'different
room to the band' on these monitors at least.

Guitar work is excellent, nice to hear your retro-fying
of this and I love that wobble board "wop wop".

I did have a lot of fun working on this. I knew when I first saw the opportunity to work with Rebsie's vocals I had to do it. It took me a while to come up with an idea, but I'm pretty pleased with it.

The "Wop wop" sound on the percussion came about kind of by accident. I was trying to change some of the settings on a percussion track when I hit the wrong effect. I liked what it was doing, so I started playing around with different settings and voices for the drums. It's always fun to see what you come up with with you just change settings at random.

I'm really blown away by how cool the backing track is on this, Joe. I think this is some of your showiest, yet very tasteful, guitar work to date and I love (as you know) that 80's retro vibe. I do get what Alan's saying about the vocals seeming a bit as though they're not sitting in the mix exactly right, but that's easy adjustment stuff. I would also say that I found the track very loud, overall. I have the volume set at about 3 on a scale of 1-10 and it's comfortable listening at that level. Usually, I have stuff around 6 or 7, so this is definitely louder than I'm used to. It doesn't sound as though it's peaking or anything, it just seems...well, loud. (I'm so helpful, it's unbelievable, isn't it?)

I love the martial sound of the backing guitars, kind of like contemporary bagpipes (and why didn't you get yours down from the wall from this one, I ask you?!)

Very cool and the overall mix is really nice.

You and Alan are right about the vocals. They do sound somewhat disconnected. Honestly, I didn't spend as much time mixing this as I probably should have. I spent so much time working and splicing the vocals to try to get the timing where I wanted it by the time I was through I just wanted to be DONE!

One of these days, I actually plan on creating a song that doesn't sound like the 80s... Actually, no. I don't plan on doing that. I don't want to lie to people.

I enjoyed this not only because I got the chance to work with Rebsie's vocals, but also to hear what everyone else did. There are a lot of really cool different versions out there.

Thanks for listening Lisa, and for reminding me how old I am with the Emily Latella reference. Now, I can't wait until you submit some vocals for the challenge. Then we can really have some fun.

This is an awesome composition my friend! Great layers and really good vocals - I had no idea you could get this high!? I am completely knocked out by the vocals on this one - Sigur Ros comes in mind. You've matured so much, especially vocally. Hate to say it again: "This is one of your best one?" Just need too...

You are backing up Rebsie's vocals perfectly, with an excellent, stunning backing track. Somehow the bombast of your work fits perfectly with her gentle singing. Great work, Joseph.

Good playing all over - and like Mikki said .... oh, it's Rebsie .. I get it ;) Nice interpretation - the timing issues with the vocal track indicate that it was a pretty big challenge, one that was certainly too duanting for me that's for sure. Really big, rich (and dare I say) lush sound.

I like the guitars, they are very interesting and go well with Rebsie's voice. The music is very gentle and seem to caress Rebsie's voice. Well Done, its very nice.
