Keywords:
Minstrel (4)robots (14)Rebsie (46)
Description:
I personally like Rebsie's voice without the "help" of any instruments. So, my challenge was to prove it was better without my instruments.

I found it impossible to fit her vocals into anything I did, and believe you me, I tried hard. So I chopped her angelic voice to pieces and made her do things I doubt she'd approve of.

This was a freaky experiment by my own standards.

If anyone wants to take what I've done and modify it, I will gladly send you the file.

Lyrics:
vitta-vitta-vitta-vitta

No Regrets &mdash 07/30/07 - 06:37:07 PM
Thanks Len,

Now I don't feel so bad about posting this tune. I actually spent more time trying to make this work than I did with Richard's version.

I just hope Rebsie appreciates it.

You been busy behind this thing &mdash 07/30/07 - 05:11:03 PM
I can't stop grinning. This definitely wins the "Where's Rebsie?" award for creative license - though I'm not sure you should be driving.

"Where's Rebsie?" Award &mdash 07/30/07 - 07:38:58 PM
I thought you were driving!?! OOPS!

The challenge was rather open ended, so I tried to take advantage of that and do something a little less traditional.

I wanted to try to make a song without much of the song, but based on the song, in an extremely abstract way. You more than most anyone should appreciate the abstraction.

Good twist up, goes well with my view of Miami beach! Nice music Bob, your keys are gettin' hot lately, you buy a usb keyboard recently?

White Hot Miami Beach Twist Up &mdash 07/30/07 - 09:00:01 PM
Hot Keys Indeedy! Thanks TW!

I forgot to mention my M-Audio Oxygen 8 is ON FIRE! Plus, I've been scribblin' all over the MIDI track with the pencil tool. This song witnessed a ton of new tricks (for me) in GB3. I used a pitch shift for the first time ever. Right when you hear the 2 lead synths harmonize - a shift of 24 units (I don't think it was octaves) made an interesting sound. The drums were a series of Motown drums from Jam Pack 3.

Then that twisty, almost scratching sound, had at least 2 or 3 new treatments on it. All were 2 or 3 finger riffs piled up on top of each other and then "corrected" with the pencil tool within the MIDI tracks.

The best tool I used was Rebsie's amazing voice, which the entire song was conceived and built around, as instructed by the challengers at Voice4Choice. This song would've never happened if Rebsie didn't volunteer her voice for the likes of me.

Thanks for your generous gift, Rebsie, and thanks V4C for this intriguing challenge.

If anyone wants to see my GB file, I'll email it to ya! cjdaley sent me a gb file and it was so cool to see how he assembled his song.

I wish we'd share more GB files for educational purposes. For me, MacJams has opened the doors of possibilities. I'd like to hold the door for someone else, to return the favor.

Bob

Now this is the one &mdash 07/30/07 - 09:05:57 PM
it makes me want to put my shirt on backwards, wear green knee high socks (3 of them). Drink a V-8 with chili fries.

That's what the songs about, huh?

Veeery cool Bob!

Vic, you're such the rebel!

Everyone knows you only wear one green sock.....

V-8 with chili fries sounds inviting. Is that a local thing? Really sounds good to me.

Thanks man. I appreciate it.

Wait, where did that minstrel go? &mdash 07/30/07 - 09:46:27 PM
Hey, the rules were pretty loose, if there were rules at all, so what you're doing is quite allowed. You could even have left out the few recognizable lines in the second half of your track, and it would still have been great.

Great stuff.

Victor.

Recognizable Lines? &mdash 07/30/07 - 10:48:34 PM
You actually heard recognizable lines?

Thanks Victor.

I've been looking forward to the day that someone as brave as yourself would tell me that my song with Rebsie would be better without her...

HUH?

I can't believe you actually said that. Now we're both in trouble.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for listening to my song, Ledebutant. I tried hard to make it stick in your head.

Do you have any spare vocal tracks of yours lying around somewhere?

I have some twisted ideas for another fair voice.

Rebsie Victimized &mdash 09/04/07 - 11:19:38 AM
Thanks for listening, Rebsie.

I worried that you'd feel more like a victim than a collaborator.

I'm anxious to put Lisa through the ropes as well as Anne from SISTERS. I have a few things in the works, but some simmering is required.

Thanks again for letting me have my way with you, so to speak. Eppy's the one you need to worry about.
