Description
This is my first entry into the Analogapalooza Thing.
Back in early 1999, my friend Giancarlo Rendina and I started recording songs on Saturdays at my place on the Alafia River. I called my "recording studio" the Telephone Booth, because of that feeling I would get as I walked into it as a mild mannered dork and left it as a caped crusader of sorts.
We originally called ourselves Monkey Fist Hypocrasy. We were passionately know as the MFH. The more time we spent in the Telephone Booth, we decided that might be a better band name, so we changed our name in the summer of 1999.
G. Rendina wrote all of the lyrics and sang with his amazing voice and played the guitar. He is quite a showman too. At the time of our first performance his hair was fluorescent Pink.
I played bass and synths (imagine that) and programmed all the drums on Dr Rhythm. I was also back up vocals and walkie talkies.
I don't know how we stopped writing songs together, because we had no shortage of ideas. In the end days, we thought I should play on real drums for our live performances... waitaminute... now I remember why we quit playing together. My drumming sucked!!! Our sound was missing the meaty bassline and the synths and the perfect beats of Dr Rhythm.
Enjoy history as it happened.
