Description:
Picture the gallant Tykes, gathering to eat tripe and jelly, with yards of ale being quaffed by the dozen.
Out steps one pal in his clogs and flat cap. He starts dancing an improvised version of The Yorkshire Clog Dance and, one by one, his drinking pals stand, and in a rapidly forming square circle, they join in one by one, then at the climax (half way through the dance) the pals square off for a bit more quaffing and so the bashing of wood against steel diminishes and talk ensues with the Jukebox being kicked, to start up Meatloaf singing about some Bat from outa Somewhere (in a Yorkshire accent of course).
Just a bit of fun really. The wippets were left at 'ome that night.

clogged military industrial complex &mdash 08/03/07 - 02:46:39 PM
The Yorkshire Clog Dance as an Industrial song? Incredible and edible. Just listen to this. I am wiping up the floor with my black slacks, sweat dripping, gathering the crowd around me. We love the resonance and pulse of life. You betcha. A breakout song. Could break out more if a solo instrument or voice started to do hard wafting at about 1:20. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks for listening.... &mdash 08/04/07 - 06:50:42 AM
I'll see what I can do with this suggestion.
I just tried to add one more 'dancer' as each 4 bar section finished, going to a climax of 9 or 10 varied tracks, then backing off a track with each successive 4 bars.
I made on mistake in the symmetry of this, near the beginning, where one track does and extra 4 beats. It bugs me that I didn't spot this until I'd uploaded the mix.
Take care.

Bizarre stuff &mdash 08/03/07 - 03:06:18 PM
you didn't mention how much acid the dancers had taken ;-)
Cheers

No acid used here, Dick... &mdash 08/04/07 - 06:54:06 AM
The quaint folk of Tykeshire don't use acid. They get high on tripe and onions, with copious amounts of vinegar. All washed down with some yeasty brew and alcopops.
Thanks for stopping by and listening.

system shock &mdash 08/05/07 - 06:26:34 AM
Back in the early 90's I was trying to play this game "system shock" and this totally reminds me of the sound track. Tense, hi-tech, chilling almost horrific IMHO. I am a bit on the tipsy side, I guess that is why it reminds me of the past. Your arrangement adds to the suspense of the story you are trying to create which is always cool. Excuse my excuse but always enjoy what you create, keep em coming.
Thanks for sharing!!

Thanks for listening Patrick... &mdash 08/05/07 - 12:19:52 PM
The game you mention passed me by so I don't know the tune you refer to.
I started this as an experiment in creating a buildup in a mix and then taking off one layer at a time back down to the percussion/rhythm. I think that the experiment worked.
It was always going to be a tongue in cheek fun piece. I'm happy that two or three people have responded to it in such a positive way.
I hope you had a good night, after the drinking!! Power to you!!
Take care.

The soudtrack to... &mdash 08/12/07 - 10:39:34 PM
...a rainy day at Meadowhall, another miserable saturday watching Wednesday lose, getting that speeding ticket on the Parkway, many an evening of frivolity in the Frog 'n' Parrot (is that still going?)........
This brings back memories of my youth: The Human League, Chakk, Hula, Heaven 17, Clock DVA and most significantly of all Cabaret Voltaire: that rich history of Industrial music, invented - lets face it - in Sheffield.
Happy days down the Leadmill when it was just a hole in the wall before they put the posh bogs in!
Thanks for this. Excellent!
Phil
p.s it's way better than just a throw away fun piece - proper music this lad! [ Reply to This ]
Eyyup Phil...... &mdash 08/13/07 - 12:39:13 AM
You sound as though you know Sheffield or have spent some time here.
All the names and places you mention are a part of my being, including Joe Cocker, The Thomson Twins, Dead or Alive and The Crucible Theatre and City Hall.
Damn fine place. Pity its not finished.
I'm glad you enjoyed the music.
My throw away remark is from the context of me not spending time to get the post mixing stages just perfect. I don't know nearly enough in this area and tend to make things sound worse!! In other words they could always be done or finished better, so they are 'throw away' or disposable.
Take care.

Hey Bryn.... &mdash 09/10/07 - 07:27:22 AM
You captured the essence of the piece in your comment.
I always appreciate a professional listening and commenting in whatever way, shape or form.
Your music is and always has been an inspiration to me.
What you do with vocals and in your production/engineering aspects, I am in awe at times.
Once again thanks for stopping by.
