This is the second of my Analogapalooza entries

Psycho Normal and His Stiff Victims

It was recorded live on an Akai DS4000 on 19th December 1982 at The Kensington in Kensington Gardens in Brighton.

Graeme Hobbs - Vocals
Steve Mazillius - Bass & backing vocals
Steve Haydaat - Drums
Me - guitar & backing vocals

The title explains it all :)

Excuse the very bad clipping and feedback in places.

Any band that is called Psycho Normal and His Stiff Victims is eventually do a tune about a penis.

Muffled (sorry) but a cool tune. I hear some of your style and humor here. A bit of early Split Endz. Which I still dig.

Oh that sound quality takes me back. I remember the effort it used to take to mic stuff up, get the sound engineer to agree to what you wanted, plug it all into the desk, twiddle all those nobs that were covered in beer and fag ash, wait for sixteen people to turn up to the gig, perform like it was your last day alive as you commited your performance to cassette....and it still sounded like it was recorded in a cardboard box.....

....who needs computers, eh?

... here, wow, what a great tune. The whole sound brings me back to the great old days of beer-covered equipment, socks on microphones, duct tape, 8-track cassette echo machines, and endless rounds of 'is my mic working? Is it on? I can't hear myself... ' (Sudden explosive howl of feedback). You guys, unlike us, actually got around to making some great music. Mostly we just drank beer.

The music, but mostly the vocals, give me an oingo boingo vibe. I also love the Johnny Carson and Linda Lovelace references. Very 1982.
