Description:
Light dancy number with a retro 70's disco feel.

Lyrics:
He's the Jazzman, see him dancin'
He's the jazzman, see the ladies glancin'
He's the jaazzman, watch him glide around the floor.

He's the Jazzman, with his open collar,
That old jazzman dancin' on a dollar,
Yeah! The Jazzman leaves 'em swoonin' wantin' more, more, yeah

Yeah, the Jazzman, leaves the girls all screamin',
And he dances, while the music's streamin'
Watch him groovin', like his feet don't touch the floor,
Oh no. no. no,

He's called 'The Jazzman','cause the beat has got him,
Called 'The Jazzman', and nobody taught him,
You should watch him, He'll dance his steps upon the floor, upon the floor, watch him go, go..

Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba. ba.ba dool yaba etc. ad lib

Bridge
The guy lives in the year nineteen seventy two.
He wears a leaopard skin shirt and those tall platform shoes
He dances on his own, this good lookin' dude,
And nobody else can keep up when he's in the mood.
He's in the mood right NOW.. danca , dance dance etc.

He's the Jazzman, see him dancin,
He's the Jazzman, watch the ladies glancin'
As he glides around the floor
They beg for more, more, more..

He's the Jazzman, with his open collar,
That old jazzman dancin' on a dollar,
Yeah! The Jazzman leaves 'em swoonin' wantin' more, more,
They all want more, all want more...

Ba, ba. balya ba, ba etc. ad lib

Makes me want to sing. Well considered lyrics. You have a bead on Mr. Jazzeroo. I always think of Jazzman as being conjoined to a sax, bass, guitar or a row of ivory tabs. This gives me a new appreciation of an untethered freelance dance king -- "dancin' on a dollar".

Yes Richard.. &mdash 08/03/07 - 06:47:35 PM
I know what you mean, but this is as in 'Jazzy'. as we all were in the 70's. I almost used a photo of myself in the 70's, with my flares and platform shoes (that's how I got my bad back), but changed my mind last minute LOL. Cheers M

We had Baldies and Greasers back then...but most of the kids I knew (and myself) wore flannel or plaid pants. Never heard people being called Jazzy on St. Paul's West Side. I guess we were far away from "the scene". Thanks for expanding my lexicon.

Awesome .. &mdash 08/04/07 - 06:41:50 AM

I loved this. Great singing .. I would only change
the reverb on them and panning a bit, to try and get
the vocals on the 'stage' with the band a bit more ..
sound a bit 'separate' from the band .. especially with
the use of the crowd cheering etc.

Having said that I loved it .. Maurice, have you heard
jamorama? There is some similar traits in your vocal styles to my ears, might be worth checking out.

Thanks Alan &mdash 08/04/07 - 07:58:26 AM
Originally I only had the tambourine swapping sides so to speak, but that really left everything else very static and a bit lifeless, so I decided to alternate panning of everything except the vocal, bass and very last drum fills, so that it sounded 'busy' and to add movement. The 'vocal style' though is probably an age/ generation thing, as I feel Jamorama might agree, that it's suprising what time does to the vocal chords. Glad you like this lighthearted pop song though, and thanks for the comments, cheers M

Yup, &mdash 08/05/07 - 06:47:40 PM
This had me singing, sure enough. I really like this tune, and the HORNS, yes! The tambourine definitely does the job, the horn stabs, the syncopated vocal phrasing, got a lot going on, very cool.

Great work. The horn section knocks me out! Did I mention that already? Whoa!

a lot Stephen, I appreciate you calling in and leaving your card. Tambourine really gives it 'movement' I think, Cheers M

love the historical &mdash 08/04/07 - 05:19:48 PM

Terrific bouncy lyrics.

A fun listen! Nice orchestration!

Thanks so much for added a fun of music we don't often hear.

liked this Bill. Long time since I heard anybody doing Scat singing, so I thought I'd give it a whirl LOL. It's time we all had a laugh and if I'd shown a pic of me in the 70's you would all have a good laugh. I do still have a shark-stooth pendant LOL(and NO I don't still wear it), cheers M

I like the track &mdash 08/04/07 - 10:15:46 PM
cause it describes me perfectly!
Except that I'm not cool, I can't dance, I don't make women swoon, and I live in the moment TODAY, not 1972.
But in my next life ....

Hi Bill &mdash 08/05/07 - 06:00:24 AM
You said "Except that I'm not cool, I can't dance, I don't make women swoon, and I live in the moment TODAY, not 1972."
Your excused then, but only because of all the other talents you have, which would suggest that musically you are cool and therefore you must have rhythm. On the other hand this was partly me in the 70's (and later) and I do have a little jig around the rug even now LOL (got to keep the heart pumping you know). It's a bit like looking backwards over my shoulder through a mirror, M

a sweet comp, Maurice. I really like the jungle drum beat on the toms..raz-a-ma taz. The horns and crowd fx were spot on as well. Nice driving vocal
