Description:
Here's a fourth evolution of Coalesce. Mainly mixing changes. Trying to get it bigger and clearer. There's more to the piece after the solo but I'm still holding that back for the finished item. I'm a tease,, I know. Let me know what ya think. Cheers, Pie.

Once again, you're showing us all how it should be done, you bastard! You've certainly gotten this bigger and clearer and, even with all the listens I've given this song over the last...how long...year (?) I never get tired of hearing it.

I like the new tone on the solo, definitely smoother, the whole thing is really just pristine. There are some nice changes in the piano. I'm not totally sure about the echo on the opening vocals being as prominent as it is, but we can argue about that in person and, as usual, you'll end up being right. ;-)

Proud of you, yet again.

backing vox &mdash 08/05/07 - 07:47:24 AM
what a huge tweak. The breaks in the song as it goes from verse to chorus sounds as large as can be. The backing vox in the front end are fantastic. You set the bar so high Pie!

Better and better! &mdash 08/05/07 - 04:50:00 PM
This was as good as it could get maybe three versions ago - and it keeps getting better. Smooth, full and complete-sounding - I suppose the next version will be even better ;)
Those harmonies are so well done (as is everything else). I'd be resting on my laurels about now, but I'm looking forward to Coalesce v5!

This is a... &mdash 08/06/07 - 01:32:06 AM
fantastic song. I can't wait for the finished version. Excellent musicianship. 10's all the way around. This is my first time hearing it so it must have been one hell of an evolution.

Quite... &mdash 08/06/07 - 03:08:19 PM
the grand opus this has become.

What are you holding back, you tart... the London Philharmonic providing a counterpuntal polka background? lol

Sterling job... all 10ers. ;)

As per Ledeb's reccomendation... &mdash 08/06/07 - 06:22:52 PM
Excellent tune, sounds finished to me but then again art is never done until the artist just gives in.

SWEET &mdash 08/06/07 - 08:00:36 PM
This is really a great Pop song. I think this one sounds perfect. Amazing vocals, the solo tone of the geetar is impressive. Piano is well done. Song crafting and production sound great. Wouldn't change a thing on this. Also love the echo on the vox in the beginning. You the man!

What's left to do already?? &mdash 08/07/07 - 02:16:21 AM
Man, you are a perfectionist ... but it shows. The production on this is really outstanding, and as has been said, it's a great pop song.

And then it ends ... come on, don't keep us hanging on!

Hey! I remember this! &mdash 08/07/07 - 08:44:20 PM
The great song that refuses to be done!

Some of us would pay cash money for your accent... an accent that actually translates into the mix...

If this is still a work in progress, I've got to listen to it with an ear to what's not right yet, or what's missing, or what needs tweaking...

Please. Like I'm going to hear anything like that...

I'll put this into my "hope I live 'til" list... I hope I live 'til 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' becomes a movie. I hope I live 'til George R.R. Martin finishes 'A Song Of Ice And Fire'...all nine volumes... I hope I live until Coalesce doesn't have W.I.P. attached to it... And I download an officially finished copy. Or buy it on CD or iTunes...

Love the dynamic sound here &mdash 08/08/07 - 09:41:13 AM
Especially the harmonies.

Lots of cool rockin! The ending drifts out is nice change of pace as well.

Terrific job here.

When I hear a tune like this I think, you have the feel of "I was born to rock, and rock you do!

Way to go. Pie you have the gift to do some of the best rockin I"ve heard here at MJ. That is no easy feat either.

Oh, Pie... &mdash 08/09/07 - 03:19:09 PM
...just finish this already, would you?

:P

(Oh yeah...sounds fab. ;)

I'll wax eloquent (possibly) on the finished version...

it's the song!!!! &mdash 08/09/07 - 05:11:29 PM
Although I really love the passionate vocal layers... and this has some subtle delicious frosting.. I don't think I could choose between versions if I was your producer... (that would be like me teaching Steven Hawkings physics)... but at this point, I think that, if you sang the song straight with an acoustic guitar... I'm know I would like it... If the song sucked, you'd just be polishing turds... but I sit and listen to the melody, where the emotional lifts are, the delivery... and i think it's perfect... yeh give me a version with an acoustic...

and my final answer is... IT'S THE SONG

you're a huge talent

Thanks for the kind words and thanks also for the Apple Store blasting.

Take it easy,

I really dig where you bend your voice just befor the guitar solo...
Beatles
interesting ending...
Beatles...
You have created your own very marketable sound with sweet overtones and masterful musicianship and recording skills.
Oh yea, I only use the term Beatles as a complement
for they are our refrence
as the bible is to litriture
listen to me running on and on

Like it says in "Piano Man..." &mdash 08/19/07 - 02:48:04 PM
"...man, what are you doing here?" (No offense to other MJ'ers!)

Seriously, friend, this is the kind of Pop that's been missing from the airwaves. Your harmonies at the beginning and the build to the first change are phenomenal. I hope Apple does pick you up. I'll be downloading this shortly after I'm done here. Well done indeed.
