This song is a bit hard for me to describe because it's meaning has changed during the process of writing it... It started out based on an old Indian torture. Tying someone to a tree, out in the desert, with their eyes sown open, staring at the sun. It was in a movie I saw as a kid and that is how I remember it.

The song evolved into a statement about how we we get so wrapped up in what we see on in the media that we start to become someone and something we're not. It is a world of make believe and we have to dig a bit deeper to find the truth.

Lyrics:
Left in the middle of the desert alive.
Left out here just staring at the sky.
The sun beats down, my hands are tied.
There's no place I can run to or hide.

105 degrees, no shade from the trees and it's only getting hotter in this world of make believe. Thought I closed my eyes, I can still see and I thought I saw Elvis. Yeah I thought I saw Elvis and I thought I saw, Yeah I thought I saw Elvis and I thought I saw, thought I saw.

Looking for my soul, thought I put it in a box, next to the TV. Killing myself trying to be somebody else, I just want to be me.
I gotta pay bills and climb the hills, I'm not dead yet and I'm trying to feel. I'm only human.

Yeah I thought I saw Elvis and I thought I saw.

105 degrees, no shade from the trees and it's only getting hotter in this, world of make believe. When you close your eyes, tell me what you see. Millions dying and the rest are filled with greed. Just, let me by and have a, have a drink on me.

Thought I saw, thought saw Elvis. Thought I saw, thought saw Elvis. Yeah I thought, thought I saw Elvis. Thought I saw, thought saw Elvis. Thought I saw, thought saw Elvis. Yeah I thought, thought I saw Elvis.

Thanks for the kind words. &mdash 10/29/07 - 06:13:29 PM
Thanks for letting me know you liked the song. It was fun trying to make a song about Elvis with deeper lyrics than just... well a song about Elvis.

Not sure if the comment about karaoke was a question to me or a tag line. I am pretty shy when it comes to singing in front of others, which makes MacJams perfect for me. Write your songs, record them without anyone hearing my mistakes. I make plenty before I am done lol... Thanks again.

Thanks, I enjoyed writing this song and this was the first song I recorded where I felt I had a bit better at understanding at how stereo can be used. Still lots to learn but should be fun discovering all the tricks.

Yeah I love the Line 6 products as well. It is great to have several different sounding guitars all in the same guitar and not have it be midi. Also the Pod XT Live is the best unit I have found to get all the different high quality sound effects and amp sounds for less than $400. I use to have a $200 unit and it is funny how spending the extra money for a high quality item can make such a difference.

Thanks again for the comment.
