Thank you &mdash 08/06/07 - 11:41:00 PM
I agree...a very 90's sound but more Pulp than Oasis to my ears

I was always amazed at the quality of the recordings that we got on that little yamaha 4 track. Basically, we (the band) would play the song as we did live through a 16 channel mixer going into 2 stereo tracks. That would leave us 2 tracks, one for vocals one for backing vocals/overdubs. A very different world to what we live in now with unlimited tracks and instant undo if you make a mistake.

Like the over all sound in this has a trance like quality. the change up comes at the right moment . I think mabye the synth is to high in the mix drowns the vocals a bit.. dont know if you can do the levels again either way great song!

I would love to &mdash 08/07/07 - 01:35:37 AM
...be able to go back to 1995 and remix this...

The synth you hear predominantly in this is actually a guitar played thru the Boss SE70 effects (fantastic effects unit for the day)

The backing track was played live by the band onto two tracks and the vocals were placed on the extra tracks...so even I could access the original tape, the backing track would be basically frozen and unchangeable...

But I do agree with your assessment to a point

pop rock - great overall sound you got coming from that restictive 4 track portastudio - great vibe - nicely balanced - well done.

Fantastic quailty for a 4 track - we never got anywhere near this sound quality. This has a rear 90's Britpop feel - The Lightnening Seeds? Great track - love the retro' key sounds .... Dvdid has a really good voice too!

Ahh , Alessis quadraverbs!!

Steve
