Description:
a tender song about an intimate bedroom scene... This is my most recent work, and is the foundation of an emerging singer-songwriter style. I have done vocals in other genres as well, to get an idea of what I'm capable of vocally: check out "Don't Come Too Close" and also "Amame pero dejame" in my music posts - a rock and a popera vocal, respectively. For this piece, I really just wanted to tell the story- and not over-think the technique - I hope you can relate.
Lyrics:
“Close Your Eyes”
Verse 1
Close your eyes, baby
Tomorrow is another day
It will be okay
Close your eyes, baby
Let your dreams take you far away
Know I’m here to stay
Pre-chorus:
Tonight let’s sail away
Let peace wash over us like waves
Tonight let’s fly away
On the wings of the love we’ve been looking for
Chorus:
Nothing’s more beautiful
Than seeing you sleep by my side
Holding on to your dreams so tight
Nothing’s more beautiful
Than knowing I’ll wake up and see you next to me
It’s no fantasy
You and me
Instrumental
Pre-chorus
Chorus (x3)
Coda:
Close your eyes, baby
Let your dreams take you far away
Know I’m here to stay.

Masterful pop rock &mdash 08/07/07 - 10:40:27 AM
The strong writing of a Billy Joel combined with sultriness of a Marc Anthony, all in a sort of soft rock musical theatre package. Excellent track. You display a mastery of the form. Well done. Is that you singing? I'd love to know more about the recording. [ Reply to This ]

I usually struggle with lyrics, and every vocal that I give is different, depending on what I feel is best for the song. This vocal came down to just natural delivery- ie not thinking too much about technique etc. Yes, you are able to pick up on all the subtle influences in my music- you have a discerning ear and experience. I have much to learn from you- and would appreciate any guidance. Again, I tracked the piano first (to rhythmic loops from plug-in stylus RMX) - and then I build the rest of the arrangement. The vocal is always the last piece of the puzzle to be put into place.

great sound &mdash 08/07/07 - 12:52:48 PM
all the instruments, piano, violins, harp??, drums, bongos etc. it has great, rich sound and so warm feeling. The piano is truly beautiful. And the vocals are simply fantastic. I really appreciate and enjoy the story, which is TOLD by the singing. Because it is not just a singing, in the vocals are expressed all the feelings which are the lyrics about. Truly lovely. celie - thank you for listening to my song - this came from a really deep place in my soul- and i am glad i was able to share that warmth with you. i also tried to tell the story the best that I could through a natural delivery of the phrases, like whispering in a lover's ear. i am looking forward to exploring your work as well in the time ahead. Much peace and love to you this day. :)
