Sojourn

Description
A journey into inner space, maybe. A mood, or state of mind that is a good place to be... The calm backbeat slows the heart and invites you to share this peace. Needs a vocal to complete!

Sweeet!
I like this. The sfx are perfect. Not too much, not too
subtle. Very dreamy feel. I'd like to tinker with some
vocals if you don't mind. Very well done. Straight 8's.

Salad, main course and dessert, all in one!
I dig this groove. I'd like to pour my sonority into this
soundscape. The words aren't there yet, but the feeling is
oh so strong.

Tell us how you accomplished this masterful recording.

How it was done...
Well, thank you for your very positive remarks.
The track was recorded
when I was wearing my minimalist hat - I would usually stick half a dozen
guitars and a load of samples into my work, but with Sojourn I wanted to
achieve a spacious, maybe sparse soundstage.
The drum track is an
edited loop, the accents were placed using individual samples (kick+crash).
The guitars were all DI'd via a PODII into an M-Audio soundcard, with no
effects.
I should own up at this point that this was done in Cubase, as it
offers a more flexible working area, coupled with some mighty fine reverbs!
Oh, and of course, the rain and thunder was sampled!

good guitar
Very nice guitar playing throughout. Sometimes the levels
creep towards distortion in my headphones, though.

The loud chord theme reminds me of John Lennon's "Give
Peace a Chance".

I would like to hear a bit more chord changes in this tune.

This song definitely is not "New Age" (even with the rain); I
would put it in "Soft Rock/Adult" or "Rock".

Really nice
Great sense of place and low key vibe. The snare sounds
early to me. I picture it later and with some echo. The
drums are overall, a little flat.

Love the big themeatic guitar chords. Really emotional.
Bill Nelson-like. Don't hit that same cymbal every time
and vary the velocity a little.

The song really does need a change up or bridge.
