I like weird. I can almost see the strings resonate of the bassguitar. The weirdness stems from the melotron, im sure. It is sometimes difficult to hear all the instruments. Did u record them with one mic? I am no expert at live recording (i use line out equipped gear). Good percussion, nice English-folklore-like melody at the end. This song has a nice flow. As this got near the end, that's what popped into my head. A slower tempo tune that could have been part of Riverdance, or similar :) I really like the drums you have going in this- nice driving beat. The whole tune is really cool, production sounds great! Drums sound ace - sound like they're panned at 3 and 9 o'clock - odd choice, but works really well. I think this is really melodic Len - the chorus is kinda catchy, and I like the keyboard that follows the vocal line ... i think generally the vocals are mixed a little too low on this. Verses work really well - I like the piano mixed with the elctro sounds, and the grinding bass.
The lyrics are batshit crazy, and i Love 'em - they have a great internal logic to them.
Really strong track, and this sounds like you ... you're developing your own thing, which is always difficult.
D'loaded and fav'd after one listen. Really nice work.

The term "alternative" rock meant something, oh somewhere back in the nineties, I guess. These days it's something I mostly avoid.
Unless of course it's made by people like lengold.
This track has some very creative touches. After a fairly standard drum pattern that choir is just lovely. The stereo processing on the vocals is also cool. The bagpipe-y violin is, hm, also different. But with the massive drums behind it it works fine.

this is a really sweet composition. I think I can get away with saying you have one of the best beat sensibilities here. Simple, heavy, driving atypical beats.
Your voice is so rich! I like the new danceless craze you sing about. They're doing it over there, but they don't do it here.
The keyboard melody is really nice. Good choice of instrument sounds. I love it Len!

you are a master at a beat. the drums are always great and i like them here very much again. i like the chorus, it is pleasant change from that "scary movie" melody to really melodic line. very nice is the change at the end with the last words "it's gonna get hard". the rhythm and drums are great but what is fascinating is the melody there. it is something what sounds medieval but middle eastern at the same time. and the end of the song, the very last chord is totally an ending of a tune of medieval times. very nice. i have a big weakness for music of that period :) [ Reply to This ]

Love the big drums sound and all the different textures in this.
The wavering vox is a fab contrast to the unrelenting, strict beat, and the swirl of sounds--vocal and instrumental-- is the perfect icing on the sonic cake :)
(moments of this reminded me of the collab "wreck of the train wreck' that I did with biba_nova--a real venture in experimentation for me!)

It's taken me a while to get 'round to listening to some of your stuff - and apologies for that. This is flippin' weird if you ask me, but is strangely addictive. Is all your stuff like this?
