Alluring and Disturbing &mdash 08/14/07 - 01:45:58 PM
When the bells fade after 3/4 of the song, it was easier to digest the rest of the song, but I keep hearing 99 Luftballons... That was the disturbing part.

Denk' an Dich und lass' ihn fliegen

if it is not on eBay, it is on YouTube. the similarity is difficult to discern. her music is easier to listen to. 0x0

Es ist Klar &mdash 08/14/07 - 03:53:33 PM
it is too cacophonous at first? that is excellent feedback. "99 luftballoons" is vaguely familiar... research must be done to compare. it is unusual that 99 software monkeys would unintentionally type up the score to 99 luftballoons. algorithms must be altered. danken donuts. 0x0

Phoney Cacophony &mdash 08/14/07 - 04:24:22 PM
The intro sounds exactly as the title suggests - Solar Wind Chimes - I hear the randomness of the chimes and to me, it sounds natural in it's randomness. I say it's not too cacophonous, rather, organic in an extremely synthesized way.

And thanks for the Nena video link.

99 software monkeys sounds like 43 too many. I could be wrong, as I seem to have 1 or 2 extra thingies working against me every day of my life.

You probably have optic enhancements, ic42.

Thanks for making me think about what I was listening too. I like the stuff you post here.

music with which algorithm? &mdash 08/14/07 - 04:15:20 PM
It seems to scale up and downwards, not randomly. I am curious about what algorithm u used. It could be interesting for you to have a look at MAX/MSP and other (algorithmic enabled) music. CHECK OUT this English artist called lum-electronica. This tune lacks emotion, yes it is ambient. But that is a matter of categorizing music per se. An ontology of tunage so to speak.
I do love the approach u take on making music. Continue with this my mysterious friend, but abide a bit more to the laws of music. The sheer volume on (a-) tonal tunes makes it difficult to rationalize, let alone experiment without them. But I can't look on your computer screen to see what u did. The length of my reply must mean something, positive...!

seedy algorithms &mdash 08/14/07 - 05:20:26 PM
it starts at a random point in musical space, but it adds repetitive patterns to simulate musical composition. software lacks insight and emotion. it must be added in a post-processing step. that step was forgotten today. it can be enhanced for version 0x02 however, if it is desirable.

lum_electronica is on the search list now, thank you.

there are no "laws" of music, but there are idioms. however the next version will be more conventional, and less ad hoc, for you... your feedback and thoughtful suggestions are always warmly welcomed. thank you, friend, if i may. 0x0

Automatic music? &mdash 08/14/07 - 08:50:12 PM
Every changing, yet always kinda the same. There is a fascination to generated music. (At least I imagine that's what the subroutines imply?) Like snow on television. (Do young people still know what that looks like?)

I could listen to this for hours.

Victor.

visual white noise &mdash 08/15/07 - 08:52:54 AM
it was calming to watch the snow inside as a child. tv images caused disturbance, but the snow caused creativity. it is a delight that you enjoy this. this was not well shaped by hand after the generative phase, so it requires more attention. please expect a longer, more involved and (attempted) more pleasing version 0x02 soon. 0x0

juist curious &mdash 08/17/07 - 11:53:55 PM
recursive subroutines?

[ Reply to This ]
curse recursion &mdash 08/18/07 - 12:42:32 PM
recursion, it was attempted for generating music. it was discarded at the leaf node. recursively generated sequences are not pleasant. this was iteratively generated. a little Brownian Motion may be detected. Also, restricting the note palette mapping is helpful. it must have some manual post-processing to create a beginning and ending. the software is not creating a beginning and ending yet. this piece has potential, but more human intervention is necessary. 0x0

Disturbing - nope. &mdash 09/30/07 - 02:47:07 PM
Those waves sound like an ice-cream van chime running on LOW battery.
Be lucky,

ice cream spiders &mdash 09/30/07 - 04:15:20 PM
it is reminiscent of a discharging electronic greeting card, now that you draw attention to this fact. it is humorous now. this thought has scared away the galactic mind-spiders. they are replaced by the de-energizer bunny. a smile is formed. it is a good day now. thank you. 0x0

head injection &mdash 09/30/07 - 04:28:12 PM
it is a piece that crawled inside, nested in the synapses, and would not leave. it was frightening, until it was painted humorous colors. it is now de-fanged and harmless. it is hoped that you enjoy many listens. thank you. 0x0

These particles &mdash 10/04/08 - 05:09:43 PM
play string instruments strung with synapses. And they also bounce around inside the brain, not destroying, but creating new connections. If it is not gray, it does not matter! If something makes you think, you should not be disturbed by that. Bring in more particles of the second part to join the particles of the first part and have enough for a full orchestra. Thank you.

pay particular attention &mdash 10/05/08 - 11:46:17 AM
you are perceptive. the particles enjoy a dance in your grey matter? Then the experiment is a success, no matter what. the particles do a happy dance. thank you. 0x0
