We use the drums in Logic but I do have the MPC Groove Templates (gives your drum tracks that MPC feel). We use an Audio Technica Tube Mic (AT-3060). I know, I heard your song and it made me want to post this song. So you're the inspiration ;-)

Really nice work, Barry. My reference to the sound of Mr. Mayfield and The Impressions may go over some of the younger folks' heads here, but this song has that kind of sound, feeling and wonderful vibe.
You really do terrific work, my friend. To me, it's a perfect 10 up and down the boards.

Barry, this is an inspiring song for needy times. The solid hip-hop interspersed with the "old school" vocal harmonies reinforces the reaching back to that earlier time when the most important thing going for the kids in the summer WAS the sandlot ballgame each afternoon (I remember).
The vocals & harmonies stack up well with those of some of my favs... Stylistics... Impressions. I could listen to this kind of thing all day and night. They are the voices of the the older folk calling out to the kids...
As usual, great production qualities. This is the music they should be playing on the radio.

Beautiful vocals over a tasteful, sparse arrangement will always work, but add a really good tune and classy, important lyrics and you have an excellent piece of relevant music.

I can really hear the Curtis Mayfield influence here. I love the mixture of rap and soulful singing. The mix is great with a really nice, full bottom end and I wish echoroom were an A&R man, too. You're good enough to play in the big leagues, for sure. [ Reply to This ]

To me this one of the best rap-singin i've heard here.
I know when I was young I really was impressed by the Coasters etc. The gorgeous voicing is so splendid to hear. The rapping really seems to fit in Thanks for bringing such a nice production here to MJ.
