Keywords:
Blue skies (3)Summer (66)Remember. Love (1)Blue. sea (1) ()
Description:
Sort of a Country-Latin song. Just began with a couple of chords etc. and my retro took off. Nice swingy rhythm. Hope you like it.

Lyrics:
Lovely summer days with blue, blue skies,
and seas of aqua blue,
Take me back to happy days, the time I first met you.

I never ever can forget, the day you first walked by,
All the guys just stopped and stared; all I could do was sigh.

So tell me little darlin' when you close your eyes,
Is it me, you still see before you?
And did the time just fly?
Do you remember how we danced, the sand between our toes?
While the Stars looked down, from way up high,
As the see just ebbed and flowed.

Seems like only yesterday, Oh! How the time has flown.
'Never thought this love would last,
Yet it's grown and grown.

Lookin' back to times gone by, I wouldn't change a thing.
We've always found the time to laugh ,
Whatever life would bring.

Lovely summer days and blue, blue skies and the sea all aqua blue,
Are only mem'ries of the past, but what I've got is you.
(Break instrumental.)
Seems like only yesterday, we met and fell in love,
The time has flown. The love has grown...
An' I thank Heav'n above.

Lovely summer days and blue, blue skies and the sea so aqua blue.
All memories I've loved and kept... and so complete with you.

Blue, blue skies... Blue blue skies.... and an aqua sea,
So content, just to be... you an' me.

this is my favorite of your songs. Man, my two year old niece jumped up and started dancing when I played your song (she doesn't even do that for my songs. You go, boy!)

Very good production. Great vocals. A keeper. Thanks for this one.

I Believe It Has... &mdash 08/16/07 - 09:05:22 PM
More of an *islands music* feel to it, Maurice. All it needs is a bit of steel pan drums and... maybe a couple of Mai-Tais. LOL

Nice and breezy little ditty. ;)

I didn't &mdash 08/17/07 - 04:38:34 AM
know which genre because as you say it does have an island feel. That's why I used the 'Guitar' dobro sound on the keyboard (right speaker)in a couple of parts to give a steel drum quality, but it also sounds a bit mandolin-ish LOL. It does also have a country feel and I did think 'Mexicana'???? No? Glad you liked it anyway Joe, thanks, M

Yes &mdash 08/16/07 - 09:59:40 PM
This is a way cool sound. Bringing a cool sumer breeze to a hot summer night.
I love the harmonies on the vocal. The vocal has such character.

The Dobro is sweet sounding adding such a nice touch to the tune.
Makes me wanna break out some old Elvis for some reason.

I love the gulls and waves....
makes me wanna swim some in the hot sun, for fun, mon.
thanks.
a nice find.

Timothy, for those nice comments and I'm glad the waves and gulls were audible enough as they somehow got drowned a little. I'm glad you're getting some summer there as ours has vanished, regards M

***More grining*** &mdash 08/17/07 - 09:14:36 PM
Nice, nice, job! It seems that so far, this evening, each of the tunes that I've chosen to dl, listen to, and comment on, the three of them have all been responsible for a widely stretched, "feel good" grin, accross my face.

I like the production on this, too. I nice warm and playful feel to it. It is a feel good tune. You have good energy. (I hate saying that - so California - where I've relocated to - go figure...)

I liked your vocal presentation of this. You're not just acting a song, it seems - your tonal inflections, which are very pleasant to listen to, sound very natural. It brings with it the type of confidence to pull this off as well as you did.

Great backing. Dign' the guitar playing in this. Apparently, "cheapo", fit the bill.

Everything about this is pleasant. It really was an enjoyable listen.

Thank you! Dion

Dion, thank YOU, for those nice comments and I'm so glad if it's given you a good feeling. 'California'; Lucky you with the blue blue skies LOL.Hope you like it there. I think the sound of the guitar is ok too, even it is a cheapo (in fact it was free from a nephew years ago) never played it till now. Thought I'd got everything balanced well, but when I heard it on here the vocal seemed a bit loud, though it sounds ok in I-Tunes., Thanks again, regards M

I LOVE THIS!!!!

It reminds me of being in the local social club, except you are a class turn!

Willie Nelson eat yer heart out! I like the maturity of your delivery, you obviously have treaded the boards! That's a compliment - you could teach us young pretenders a thing or 3!

Brilliant! Downloaded to my Easy Listening playlist (not C&W).

Oho-o-o &mdash 08/18/07 - 07:27:18 AM
You're right about treading the boards alright LOL and for a lo-o-ong time. All this mixing and whatever is so new to me, as I hadn't sung for about fifteen or more years 'till I came on here. What a lovely compliment you've given me, but most others have said they feel they're on the beach... not a social club LOLOL. that comment really tickled me, but I know what you mean LOL. Whooo hooo! Willie Nelson, now there's a singer I like... mainly for his sincerity, something I lay great store by. You made my day with this, Thanks a lot, M

is that you make nice happy sounds in so many of your tunes. That is so important i think when i get older. I need more happy sounds cause it helps my endorphins and your doing that Thanks. Maybe even my dolphins to :)

This is great being here in Nashville and hearing a FUN beach tune!

Thanks for that !!!!

Has Potential &mdash 08/21/07 - 04:49:34 PM
I'm gonna be truthful, in the interest of making a beautiful lyric into an beautiful song. If I read the lyrics right this is a tribute to you're bride of many years, and as such it needs to be as beautiful as I'm sure she is.
So here goes.

The lyrics are truly beautiful and your vocal is excellent, but I can see room for improvement in the production and instrumentation.

Whatever instrument you're using for the rhythm back is overpowering the rest of the tracks to the point it takes away from the song.

Your lead guitar part is too far back in the mix, bring up the volume a little bit.

On the whole, it almost seems too busy with all the things going on in the background.

Please, Please take these comments in the spirit they are meant. I really love what you've said in this song. The words are awesome. I just know from listening to it that I can be a really beautiful song.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hi Ed &mdash 08/21/07 - 05:25:54 PM
Thanks for your comment (which I wouldn't dream of taking offence at). I too thought I was a washed up old singer 15 years ago, until I got this Garageband thing.... and that's all I was.. a singer who played guitar accompaniment... now I never pretended to be a record programmer or producer /arranger, but I'm doing my best and with no previous experience of those jobs.
With age, hearing and voice deteriorate as you know, hence I need comments like yours, because people never truly hear themselves as other people hear them, I'm sure you will agree.
With regard to the sentiment in the song, it's what I would have perhaps wished to be so, but no... I'm afraid your imagination is running way off, with regards to my ex of 30 odd years LOL and since then it's been a case of 'Once bitten twice shy' as regards marriage. 'Been there, done that' LOL.
Again Ed, thank you for the comment and for taking the time to listen. Points taken, Regards M

Quite the western timbre to your voice here! And the guitar is very retro. The gulls at the end were a nice touch too, almost a Jimmy Buffet does Will Rogers sound.

Thanks
