Description:
This is an Ambient experiment, where I've repeated often various phrases, as in keeping with a telephone ringing. I hope it's not too monotonous.

It's short, so you don't have to waste too musch time listening.

I really like this. Nice concept, especially with hint of voices near beginning.

Thaks for listening to the piece and leaving your thoughts.

It's great to know another person found and listened to one of my mixes.

I enjoyed the hint of voices myself, along with the harmonics, throughout the piece.

Paul.

Keyword toothache? &mdash 08/18/07 - 10:50:04 PM
Nice groove and perhaps worth expanding into a full blown song. It really has a lot of great stuff going on and some really lush sounds. A couple of breaks and perhaps a good bridge makes a full song.

I put this in as the piece is repetative, wont go away, and could be annoying, just like a tooth hurting.

I also finished it at 'tooth hurty', 2:30, so it was almost called 'Chinese Dentist Time'.

Don't worry. I'm not as crazy as I used to be, to be, to be.

I might even add more to this as time goes by. Your suggestions are worth thinking about, to add some polish to the mix.

Take care.

Paul.

Great mix right off the top. The bass and kick rumble along nicely in the basement. There's a nice sense of space established with the reverb, especially on the percussion.

The percussion and bass line are really good - lively and locked together. Even though you have several layers of synths pumbing along (wah, ambient, epiano, etc.) there is plenty of space and they never step on eachother. The background synth (what I refer to as the "wah" synth) really contributes to the funkiness of the beat, serving the same roll as a James Brown guitarist.

This doesn't seem at all monotonous to me. Its a great groove and melody. You could experiment further by adding a second rhthm section, just as funky, but maybe with kettle drums or some other instruments. I also imagine a muted horn solo somewhere, though I don't know of a softwarte instrument for muted horns...

Nice stuff!

I really appreciate your taking time to listen and then comment in such a helpful way. I've copied this to my computer so that I can give it the attention it deserves. I may even do some more work with this mix, as I also said to a previous listener. There's so much additional scope with this sort of mix that something has to be added/changed in some way or other.

Take care.

Paul.
