Description:
A song about a love gone bad and one way to try to cope. One that never really works.
Lyrics:
Between The Whiskey and The Teardrops

Verse I
Whiskey doesn't mix with teardrops, you can never get your fill
It can't fix a broken memory, never has it never will
But on the bottle I'm relyin', to help my heart get over you
Though it won't stop me from cryin', I keep hopin' that it will
Chorus
Whiskey you've gotta take her memory, and help me get it off of my mind
You've got to paint a new illusion, and one that's not the end of the line
Although I know it may seem hopeless, It's really just a matter of time
Between the whiskey and the teardrops, The beer and the brandy and the wine.
Bridge Turn around A / E / A
Verse II
I know I cannot drown my sorrows, in a sea of alcohol
and that I should just forget her, stand up proud and stand up tall
But that's not in my constitution, I can't do it on my own
I fortify my resolution, drinkin' whiskey all alone
Repeat Chorus

This was recorded on a Tascam 8trk reel to reel in my studio. Live guitars, vocals, harmonies, and I used a Yamaha SY99 for all the other instrument parts. Recently came the the Apple format where I remixed using Cubase on a PowerMac G4 through Tascam FW1804.
Vocal mics are Electrovoice ND257B with a alesis 3630 compressor and Alesis Microverb III reverb

Oh Geeze, do I have to send another check? &mdash 08/28/07 - 11:23:03 PM
I'm runnin outta money here Tim.
Ya know, that Tascam really was a great recorder. 1/2 tape on a 10-1/2 reel and man could you get the sound on that thing.
I have a friend named Charlie Red, a song writing buddy that taught me a lot about what it takes to write a good song. He was very patient with me and guided me along the way. If it wasn't for Charlie, I'd still be doing one verse, one chorus songs that were only half done. He also taught me a little about how to get a good mix. Some of it took, and some didn't, so I'm still working on it.
Maybe by being here I can pass some of what Charlie taught me on to others. I sure hope so. That is why we're here, isn't it?
Thanks again Tim

Wonderful song. Almost like Hawaiian C&W. Such an easy, bittersweet feel. [ Reply to This ]

You and me too. &mdash 08/29/07 - 05:35:02 PM
Where do you think I got the lyrics. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll survive the song writing. If I have to live it all to get the songs, I'll be dead by the end of the album. lol
Thanks for the listen and comment

with her haunting vocals. It means a lot.
Thank you Pavlina, I'm really glad you liked it. It's what I consider my best work so far and my personal favorite.
Even so, I can see a lot of room for growth. Getting better just takes time and effort. I have time now and I'm willing to put in the effort. Let's see where it goes from here.
Again, thank you for your very kind words.

Never been to Panther Hall, but when you mentioned it in you comment I went and looked it up. That's quite a place, and some pretty heddy players there.
Again, thanks for the listen and the kind words. It boosts the spirit to hear kind words about one of your babies.

All right now... &mdash 10/13/07 - 06:29:10 PM
This is such a smooth drink of fine whiskey... You got one velvet voice made for country singing. Great lyics to give that voice something to sing. And the production on this is outstanding.
I'll be listening to more of yours. glad to make your acquaintance... [ Reply to This ]
It's like 100 year old Scotch Whiskey. &mdash 10/13/07 - 08:02:16 PM
settin' up on the bar waitin' for you to take that first taste Jack. You aren't sure what it's gonna taste like, but you know it's gonna be good.
Thanks Jack for the kind words, and for dropping in for a visit. The bars always open for you man.
Since I now know who you are, I went to your page and listened to your latest offering, "Lonely Nights, Lonely Songs" and had a listen. Pretty good stuff you got going on there Jack.
Anyway, thanks again

-Hope you had a wonderful Christmas John, and that you have a really great New Year in 08. Be well my friend.
