Description:
Moorlandt was kind enough to lend his great vocal talent to this track again in this new version. I think this new version has a much more polished sound and feel to it. No loops were used in this production. Lyrics and vocals by Moorlandt, music by me. Thanks again Walter, for doing another excellent performance! Bravo! Hope all of you enjoy this version of an already awesome track. Peace!

Lyrics:
Lyrics & Vocals by - Moorlandt
Music by - Boris Luxx

Cold and bitter chronicle
So horrible, the crime remains unsolved
No truth appears in sixty years

She was young and beautiful
So pitiful, her gruesome tragic death
Immortalised Elisabeth

Mostly dressed in starlet clothes
Dyed black curly hair
About her overwhelming splendour
She was well aware

No man could resist temptation
Following her track
Leading to her fatal fortune
She comes in black
When she’s turning back
She comes in black

She was young and beautiful
So pitiful, her gruesome tragic death
Immortalised Elisabeth

No man could resist temptation
Following her track
Leading to her fatal fortune
She comes in black
When she’s turning back
She comes in black

What a perfect combo &mdash 08/18/07 - 11:14:44 AM
A very very nice full sound. You guys have nicely covered all the frequencies in this.

Beautiful writing.

Mostly I'm struck by the clearity of this. Everything is crystal, crystal clear.

Really digging Morlandt's voice in this. Both of you are complimenting each other very well. But he's really striking in this, to me.

Eggzellent synth work!

Just a beautiful production! I give tens just for that - which makes the whole thing a big bonus for me.

Well, I think I like it. A lot!

Thanks! Dion

Dion! &mdash 08/18/07 - 12:06:08 PM
Many many thanks for your excellent review! This is a track that I have been meaning to get back to for quite some time. Every time I would listen to the original version, the mix sounded too muddy and I had put Walter's vocals too far back in the mix. There were many changes I employed in the new version, which (for one) was the clarity issue. I used GB instruments in the original and they just dont "shine" like a good soft synth like Nexus. I also made this version about 15 BPM faster and it really helped, IMO. It has a good pace now. The drums were also another issue that kept haunting me from the get-go. I recently purchased another plug-in from reFX, that is nothing but drums. So, I re-wrote the drum track and noticed an immediate improvement. Everything just fell into place from there. The addition of Walter's newly-recorded vocals sent it over the top. They are so clear and dynamic. I hope to write more tracks that are similar in mood and style in the coming months, as time permits. Of course, I will have to see if Walter would be kind enough to lend his wonderful vocals to those as well. Thanks for stopping by letting us know how you liked it. Take good care, Dion! Be well!

Many thanks, McBoy! Glad you enjoyed this remake. The drums were all done in GB3 using Nexus soft synth with the drum plug-in pack. Note by note. Thanks for stopping by and giving us your input! Cheers!

Such a strange experience to redo a song after almost one year. The tempo change in this new version was tricky, and took me effort to adapt to than I initially thought. But I like the very tight underlaying beat and the pulsing synth bass. Thanks a million, Richard. It was fun again!

I am glad you had fun again doing this track. Like I mentioned above; I hope to start writing more of this type of track, since your vocals are so fitting to the moods and ambiance. Many thanks for the re-do!!! Your vocals came out much cleaner this time around and they have more dynamics. Love it! Take care Walter! Be well!

P.S. Great mixing, BTW!

Fantastic &mdash 08/18/07 - 03:08:02 PM
This has been one of my favorite macjams songs from the minute I first heard it and I've listened to it many times since then. I like the new energy in the song from the new drum track and the increased bpm. The new synths sound great, too. I especially like the heartbeat at the outro. It's appropriate for the lyrics, but also tastefully done. At times like this I really wish I had my own radio station and could make the two of you stars.

Very nice new vocal performance, Walter. Love it!

Aww! Thanks so much! So glad you liked the new version. I am really happy with the way it turned out. It's full, rich and uncluttered, yet powerful. I dont know how many times this has been played on my iPod, but it's got to be in the hundreds. LOL. I really appreciate your stopping by and taking a listen today. Hope all is well with you! Take good care Ledeb! Be well!

Great mix, wonderful vox - this takes me back to my youth ... when are the Sisters of Mercy gonna release a new record. Very clever use of 3/4 time on this. This is ready to go to the club, guys!

Echoroom! THanks for coming by again! I love the Sisters and hope/wish they would come out with something again soon!!! I really dig on Andrew's voice.

Many thanks for the kind words! I would really like to hear this played at club on a great sound system! Then I would be able to feel the low and rumbly bass that I have put into this track. Walter has done another fantastic job and I cant seem to thank him enough for lending his talents to this song (again). Cheers!

No need... &mdash 08/19/07 - 07:00:13 AM
...for a Sisters Of Mercy come back when this is around:-))

Seriously, this is so professional from start to finish it really should be out there in your local record store. You should be shifting millions of copies of this to disenfranchised spiky haired gloom ridden goth types from Sheffield to San Francisco - which is meant as a compliment by the way:-))

There's a hell of a lot of good stuff on MJ's, but occasionally you get the odd track which goes beyond "Talented Bedroom Amateur Recording" and up to "Proper Record" standard - and this is one of those.

Good stuff,
Phil

Fine production!! &mdash 08/19/07 - 07:41:17 AM
And the performances aren't too shabby either. One of the more professional sounding posts in a long time at MJ. Rich, your sound bed is nothing short of amazing, and I always love Walt's vocals. As Mr Macca said, the sound is full - but it's also clear and precise on my phones. If I was forced to find a nit to pick, I'd like to hear Walter a tad louder in the mix (a very small tad at that) - it's not a problem, just a tweak that might add some more lushness to the already heady mix.
Great tune!
Neil

LOve the timing in this and the way moorelandt sings. I was fooled at the opening but as the beat came in I settled in for a great listen. Enjoyed:)

Hot Song! &mdash 08/24/07 - 06:29:54 PM
A rare four 10s from me....That being said I think there is a way to make this song even better....Two thirds of the way through there is silence and a drum solo. I'd infuse the next rift after the drums) with even more energy by upping the pace (GB4 might be needed for this) adding a couple more hyper (fast paced) instruments and at the same time give the rift more expansive ambience, to give it more of an expansive driving force....I think this song could be a commercial winner if the right people got behind it.....Thanks for the download!...Peace, digitalnirvana9.....
