Description:
This was a beatles rip-off that I just wrote, and asked Vic to lay down some guitars for. He amazingly turned this around in a couple of hours. Now it sounds like the Flaming Lips covering a Traveling Wilbury's song. Thanks Vic. I know I just posted another song, but the wife is out of town, so I'm taking the time to do some recording. I told Vic I was going to re-record the bass and vocals, but they sounded "good enough."

Fantastic song! I dont think it sounds that much as a beatles ripoff, it sounds to me like a little genuien indie pop tune. I am impressed by the mixing done on this, the sound is very dynamic. And that is great!Thank you!
michael2
thanks a lot. mixing is usually my weak point. i'm so glad that you liked this song. thanks for commenting too.

from the fab faux - and a little flying burrito brothers too. I love the wheezy quality of the mix and the layering of the vocals. Of course Vics guitar was the magic touch here - but all the other instrumentation is so perfect. This has a great live in the studio feel. Excellent.
michael2
Fab Faux; excellent. I'll work on a Sonic Spoof song next. Vic totally rocked on this, exactly what I was picturing. PLus there is the added bonus of a couple drum fills (never used them before). THanks for stopping by, gotta fly and get me a burrito now.
ceilidh
love this song! don't ask me why, because everything is great and i would have to name one by one every instrument, melody, vocals etc. one fat straight DOWNLOAD :)
michael2
so much, i was thinking it would be a little "rock," but I like the way it turned out. thanks for listening.
Great stuff
Love the guitar tones
michael2
your wide open tastes. thanks for listening.
Vic Holman
but i clogged up the vacuum trying to clean it up. And do I get to keep the pink full sized bunny suit?
Well you know have much i liked this from the start from your demo. You did a really good job on the mixing. Vocals up front and righteous.
lt was fun adding to this.
Naz Needler Nomad signing out! :-)
michael2
on the guitars, and what a turn around; unbelievable. you can keep the bunny suit if you'll play on another song (soon enough).

thats a cool name for this collab, youtoo rock, I always liked ur vocal style and ur musical talent to boot.very good production, the pic says it all and ripping off other artists is fine and dandy, just don't, try and sound like them, I don't quite remember exactly what Boy George said, but roughly it was " you don't borrow, you rip off"...any hoot nice jam boys....BlueSky
michael2
who quotes Boy George is a friend of mine, the man has soul to spare. Gotta love a cross dressing Motown rip. Thanks for stopping by, and for all the kind words.

Man, this doesnt sound like the fab 4 to me, just fab. Your voice is gettin' better and better Mike (bit like the guy outta Travis on this one), and this is a pop gem - 'good enough' - sure is. I dunno how you could improve the mix on this - its a polished jewel.

very nice of you to say so. i'd never collaborated with Vic before, and I think he did a great job. thanks for listening.

.. it started out sounding like a Beatles song, letting Vic loose on the guitars was always going to make it more so. For "off the cuff" lyrics, these work really well, and the song sounds great. More Julian Lennon for mine than the Beatles - there's something very "live" about this.
Like it a lot.

it sounded like obladi-oblada when i started, as it was mostly piano driven. THen Vic went crazy on it, he's a genius pretty much. I'm not familiar with Julian at all (I do remember the "pebble" song from back in the day), although I love Sean Lennon's stuff. Thanks for stopping by, and glad you like the song.
Dj French Toast

bonnieprincejohnny
Nice wee riff Michael - high quality pop. Be lucky.
michael2
bonnieprincebilly. that's nice to hear, especially from a master of saucy pop such as yourself.
Mcboy
is just right for the mood...guitars sound perfectly matched for this song......beatles only in spirit.....your voice holds it own.......great work....

You didn't say you came up with this in one hour, that would have pissed me off. This is friggin' brilliant! The composition, the arraingment, melody all good. Perfect bridge. The song took me out of my technical critic mind state and put me in a" just enjoy it" one. Everything here sounds good enough to me, and then some. Latter
Cool TRACK !! the guitar sounds great and wonderfully played (as always from Mr. Vic), the singin is really very very nice !! much enjoyed this collab ! keep up the good work

Fabbish, but not ripoffish at all. Love the guitar work on here, and I also like the piano/ keyboards, and the vocal is terrific. Your voice has a most excellent feeling to it that's hard to describe. It shines through on pretty much everything you do, and here again it's a winner. Very cool. Nice collab, and nice work all round. Peace.

When kept shameless... lol...
Nice nice singing on this.
I want to go down the list of all the things that I like about this, but I wouldn't go up to Ringo and tell him how well he slammed the drums... Well...maybe that was a bad example because he wasn't that good of a drummer.
See, you're ahead of em, just too late... Actually you guys are right on time...
Everything is good about this. A very nice production!
Great playing Vic! I have to at least say that.
Oh what the hell... I'm always hyper focus on the drums and the percussive part of things and I just have to say, you did an EXCELLENT w/ them. Good supporting bass too - so I guess that makes your rhythm section pretty dead on.
Lots of nice little percussive touches, including the x-phone. Very nice!
Are you playing the piano??? impressive...
There... I went and did what I knew would make me feel silly... Could'nt help myself, though...
I really enjoyed this! Thanks, guys! Dion

I didn't get my copy last night and also, I wanted to listen on a nice system - Man do I feel stupid - This really a great piece. A full on production!
You get a big assed, WOW, from me. Very nice work. Thanks again.

for taking the time to listen on a real stereo, that's awesome. i'm glad yu like the song, i only wish that I could mix a little better (but i'm learning). thatnks for stopping by.
Hey man, really nice tuneage! Great job singing this. Sound like John Lennon in places. Lovely melody and Beatle-esque change-ups. And good choice drafting Vic! Kudos!
Be well!

to see collaborate two of the greatest guards of the 60s temple at macjams. It's exquisite as usual, I really like this glockenspiel, like little stars in the rich texture of the song (an everefficient spectorian trick).
michael2
was just wondering where you were (yesterday actually). good to hear from you. i was just thinking of phil spector the other day ( i heard that Amy Winehouse rehab song - genius). got a new one i want to try some of that trickery on. glad to see you around.
So GOOD ..... EVERYTHING really HARMONIC IN EVERY WAY..medative almost - a song that sticks ( 8 ) in my head Really enjoyed this Thanks Both You ARE GREAT (!)
timothy devine
I dig.
More like the early Kinks. I'm not sure why I say that, I think its the vocals and the over all sound.
Nice work.
Vic fits perfect in here.
