Description:
*Okay, the cat's out of the bag, suprise guest vocals from SlimGirlFat! We thought it would be fun to try and surprise a few of you. I haven now added this to credit her being so kind as to lend her voice to this song and have switched it to a collab.

This song's been on again off again for quite sometime, but I finally got to finish it. A bit of a pop/rock flavor and big thanks to McBoy for providing the acoustic guitar I so desperately wanted on the track, but had not the means or skill to do, myself.

Lyrics:
Time… it’s never on your side
Time… there ain’t no place to hide
Now… it’s all on you again
Time… it never seems to end.

And if you feel it’s got the best of you,
It doesn’t hurt to share a dream or two.

Time… it’s never on my side
Time… it’s tearing up my pride
When… it’s damage has been done
Time… knows that it has won.

And when I feel it’s got the best of me,
Perhaps you’d share a dream or two with me.

Time… it’s coming to its end,
Time… no way to shape or bend,
Now… we’ll have to wait and see.
Time… enough for you and me,

And if you feel it’s got the best of you,
It doesn’t hurt to share a dream or two

And when I feel it’s got the best of me,
Perhaps you’d share a dream or two with me.

Nice Collaboration &mdash 08/29/04 - 11:28:03 AM
The electric guitar sounds a bit out of place and maybe
even slightly out of tune (?) in places. The writing is tight
if a bit safe. Production is top notch. That sounds like
SGF, no? Maybe you should give a credit there.

8.5 (9 production, 8 performance)

Fantastico &mdash 08/29/04 - 04:48:35 PM
I love the singing -- individually and collectively. The
supporting soundbed is full-bodied and delicious. Thanks
for doing this. Ah, the intoxication of sound!

Cheap Trick &mdash 08/29/04 - 10:37:28 PM
Has a Cheap Trick sound to it (and I mean that in a good
way).. I like the male and female vocal change.. excellent

Cheeky Monkey! &mdash 08/30/04 - 12:24:43 AM
Just caught the outro. Ha!

Good construction here and yes, reminiscent of Cheep Trick and Collective Soul. These are two bands that wrote some very good pop-rock songs. Cheep Trick wrote some classics and hell, Collective Soul had a hit with a hard-rock waltz. That's good company! Great genre composition. Excellent performances from all three. Makes me wonder where my old concert t-shirts are! (8-8-7-8)

Heh, no worries McBoy! I'm glad people are enjoying the track despite
the random bombings and thank you SO much for the acoustic work you
did. It wouldn't have the strength without it. :)

You and SGF should get a variety show! I'll put a call into
the networks. Anyone have their number?

Cool tune... a little retro... I like that! The surprise tag at
the end is awesome! Almost missed it...

It was a real pleasure to sing on this track and collaborate
with Packo again, properly!

the tag at the end is ummm.... rather embarrassing
though.. LOL..

delicious combination &mdash 09/01/04 - 10:04:07 AM
This song has an excellent combination of various
ingredients which results in a very tasty dish. Except for
the black olives! (electric guitar is a bit grating at times;
doesn't seem to fit the rest of the mix.)

The combined forces of packo and slimmie is DY-NO-
MITE!! Really great chemistry. Definitely something
magical there, and I hope you continue to collaborate.

Very nice guitar provided by mcboy. It added that
essential acoustic ingredient.

I would have liked to hear a bit more melodic variety in
this tune, but overall this was very pleasant to listen to.
And the lyrics are very good.

GREAT job, everyone!

This should be on the radio... &mdash 09/01/04 - 02:57:41 PM
This should really be on the radio. Wow what a great song.
I think that this is one of the best songs I've heard on this
site. The vocals are amazing...
Your voices blend so well together. My only suggestion
would be is to not use quite so much distortation on the
guitar during the chorus. 10,9,9,10 from me. Awesome
job! Oh yeah I would lose that end piece also. : )

Don't Go Breakin' My Heart! &mdash 09/02/04 - 12:50:24 PM
You and Slimmie . . .

The Elton John and Kiki Dee of the new millennium!

Nice counterpoint of voices!

Headphones, gotta grab the.... &mdash 09/03/04 - 11:19:10 PM
I was just flipping through a few songs listening on my basic speakers when I came across this one. "Whoa, back up, grab the headphones." Nice work, folks.

Only suggestion would be to back the dist guitar part a bit - make it a little more atmospheric like the rest of the song.

Otherwise a real standout. Wish my work sounded this good.

And the surprise reprise was great too. Love your laugh SlimGirlFat!

Friggin Awesome! &mdash 09/14/04 - 08:21:54 PM
I love it!!!
My favorite song to date on MJ. It made me cry folks. And
I ain't no sappy new age guy. It coincided with an
unexpected unemployment, and a reconciliation with my
wife, and... a couple glasses of wine, and the following
quote by my 2 year old... "You're a good guy Daddy." I
don't know, I guess I'm realizing just how much time has
gone by since I was really myself-- my true self as
expressed in art, and damn, that's powerful stuff. It's also
that-- geez, I can hear two good friends combining forces
to make something absolutley amazing. Collaboration is
the thing. What does all this mean? To me it is all about
the relationships formed via this magic carpet called
music.

WOW! &mdash 11/18/04 - 04:18:08 AM
This is such a departure from the work of yours I've heard.
I loved the vocals the male parts made me think of Bono
for some reason. I did feel the electric guitar was out of
place a bit, but I think if you cut the distortion a little, it
would help. You MacJammers never cease to amaze me.
