Description:
This came about after a very deep meditation I had in 1998. I'm not overly 'religious' but I like to think that I am spiritual; not following orthodoxy, but what I 'know' and have seen in meditation. Well as I came out of this particular meditation, I just felt inspired to write and when I did, the pen flew over the page leaving me with no time to think about what I was writing. It came in a flash as it were and I couldn't believe what I'd written as I lay down the pen after and read the words. I copied it onto my computer including it in a a book I began to write about my 'experiences' at the time. Having spotted it last week I re-read it and decided to record it, with some backing music and this is the result. Hope you like it and that I don't sound too much like a Sunday Vicar delivering a sermon.

Lyrics:
In Praise of God.
Oh, Magnificent Lord, in whose keeping I am entrusted, with humility, while still allowed and encouraged to address you in this way.
You whose thoughts have made the stars and all the universe, and spread them in a balance which has brought us into being, yet still listens to the call or prayer, that is uttered from our soul, and carried on to you as droplets in a stream are carried onward to the sea.
Lord, whose heart is kind enough to welcome all whose backs were turned, through greed and selfishness, but then returned, to recognise the hatred in their deeds.
Sweet Lord, our Father, Parent, whose love was handed on, to mortal parents for their children’s needs; reach out we pray, and touch the hearts of all the ones who’ve gone astray. Bring them back into the fold of human love, we all should know, yet hold within our hearts, just waiting to unfold.
Help us to help the weaker ones; bring love and needs to everyone who lives in darkness or in fear; let us bring the lightness near, to show the way that they must tread to leave the dark behind.
Oh, Lord of Light, whose call we hear through silent prayer and humbleness, be near us every living day, and through the night as sleep gives rest to tired limbs; but nearer still, as through our dreams we travel on, to other realms (where love still waits with those long gone), for short sweet meetings ‘till the dawn, when we return to carry on this mortal life of goodness, only if we will.
Help us to live our lives in truth, unselfishness and care for life, the preciousness not understood or comprehended as it could be, were we just to live our lives in innocence, as we should.
Praise alone is not enough to thank you Lord for all you’ve done; the words are lost in meaning of the love, which is the very essence of your being and your deeds.
How can a person such as I, insignificant in others eyes, be so important though to you, that if I were a speck of sand, your recognition I’d command?
Oh, all consuming Lord of Love, there is no other way to show how great I hold you in esteem, than base my life upon the theme you’ve set me as a task. I’ll carry on, do as you ask, and care for others when I can, forsaking evil every day, and putting goodness in its stead.
These things I’ll do for worship of you; and for man, to guide him closer to your side, as was your plan.
Encourage him to then abide within the arms of all that’s good, his feelings never hide, but open to the world, as only then they can be shared, as any burden should.
To help each one I come to meet, and by example, show the love which made me so, leaving them to wonder if they’d missed the path, but found the stream, whose waters now are pure and clear.
Waters from which, if they should drink, will also lead them for to think, that as they lean toward that font, a clear reflection too they’ll see, of all they’ve missed; but yet should want.
For, all I’d pray is just to be, a droplet in your loving stream, a mirror of your loving ways,
That lives with me through all my days, reflecting in my acts and deeds, and helping fill all others needs,
My joy? . . . . . . .Your name to praise.

Very uplifting! &mdash 08/24/07 - 08:30:11 PM
You put a lot of feeling into this and did a nice job of narrating as well. I'm not religious at all but I am extremely spiritual. People need more of this in there life's. you have a nice speaking voice. Thanks for sharing and nicely done my friend!

hear from you Alvin and thank you for your words. I didn't want people to think I was 'preaching' here and I hope that comes across. I would like more people to meditate though if anything, as I think it's very beneficial in many ways. Thanks again, M

I also meditate and your pic is a trip in its self. Thanks 4 sharing your deepest visions, I would liked to hear some thunder, echo and angelic singing in the back ground and more drama, I truly enjoyed ur loving stream in fulfilling my needs....thanks

Hi Aureliano.. &mdash 08/25/07 - 05:29:21 AM
I knew that anyone who meditated would understand the picture, which I also did years ago. I'm pleased you listened and enjoyed this writing and I did consider the odd sound effect like a rippling stream etc., but decided that it would both detract from the meaning in the words themselves and from any meditational effect the words might have. It was the part about having"missed the path, but found the stream...." etc. that I wondered if people would understand; as it being so symbolic, it took me a while to work it all out too. That's the suprising thing about things like this, in that it's as though I personally didn't write it... since it's not written as I would normally write. That's why I put this under 'Inspirational' After this, there were seventeen pholosophies that followed and all of them about love,
cheers M

wow &mdash 08/25/07 - 12:11:43 PM
I really like your narrative voice. This isn't 'preachy', but it's more like you are letting us join you in your own heartfelt prayers. As Roxy said, 'If everyone lived like this, the world would be healed.'
The background voices are actually pretty good in this context. I like the swell of voices at the end.

That you got that impression Kristyjo, that's really nice and suits me fine. I did want to 'accompany' the voice, but of course I didn't want to take away from the message, so it was like walking a fine line with the backing, but so glad you enjoyed,Thank you for your comments, regards M

Inspirational! &mdash 08/25/07 - 04:44:05 PM
Thank you M for this! I know what you mean by this kind of inspiration, that it does not feel as if it were you who wrote it. I am no writer but has experienced, in the past, a similar flow of inspiration. My occasional music making is a little of the same sort. But that is another story.

Except for the praise also given above by others, my only suggestion for this piece is if you would consider a few pauses in the reading here and there, to let the words sink in a little..? Like when you read or chant the psalms, I think you are supposed to pause a little after every (other) line of verse, if you know what I mean.

All in all: Nice "colaboration"!!!

/Henke

Hi Henrik &mdash 08/25/07 - 06:40:27 PM
Thanks for calling in and commenting. I know about the pauses though, but it's so long as it is, that I thought it might loose any impact it might have if I spread it further. We'll have to talk about the "collaborators" sometime LOL, Thanks again M

Johnny, all I can say is that if you're 'shocked' at sincerity, you're missing a lot in life and you'll have quite a few disapointments to come. I hope everyone is as honest in their opinions with you also, cheers M

An affecting track. &mdash 08/25/07 - 07:41:41 PM
Well, I must say, this track is different than any track I have heard on MacJams. And different is good!

This is an affecting track. The backing music really makes you sit up and want to listen to the narration. And I must say I really love anyone with a British accent. I could listen to it all day.

Reminds me of a Bible-On-Tape series I have heard advertised, narrated by Alistair Cook (I think).

Makes me think of James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

So you're not religious? Could have fooled me. Lots of folks nowadays will say "I'm not religious, but I am very spiritual." I don't see why there needs to be a line drawn between them. Nothing wrong with being religious, if it draws you near the true God who saves sinners.

Your narration has a very musical quality to it. Sounds like you've had some experience doing voice work, perhaps in radio. Am I right?

Beautiful work here, Moviz.

Hi John &mdash 08/26/07 - 04:59:05 AM
first of all thank you for listening and for your nice comments. When I say I'm not religious it certainly doesn't mean that I don't have faith. I mean that I don't need (at the risk of offending some) 'Orthodoxy', because as it says in the Bible 'the Kingdom of God is within,' and through meditation I'm able to 'visit'. You're correct in saying there is only one true God; it's these different inerpretations of people's impressions of 'how it should be' (Orthodoxy), that I don' go along with. I do have faith of course, but I meant that I'm not fanatical in any sense. Sincerity and open-ness is my main thing in life.
Regarding my vocal... no I haven't broadcast before. In fact when I 'trod the boards', I spoke very little in between my songs because I hated to speak into a microphone. I think now, it's because I know the sentiment in the words that I'm able to be honest with the emotion, so that others will understand them better.
Thank you for the praise (Pun? LOL) and the 'musical' effect maybe comes from the writing itself, because, as with other writings which came the same way after meditation and at speed, there is a rhythm or vibration (and everything that IS is a vibration), so that even where there is no rhyme, it still comes across as though it were a poem.
Again John, I thank you for your comments, regards M

Bless YOU... &mdash 08/25/07 - 08:08:48 PM
Maurice, for this beautiful prayer. My wife teaches world religions and spirituality and I am passing this along to her. I know her students will love it. ... Your speaking voice is very comforting and, as John Stebbe said above, we Americans love the British accent of our common tongue. Thank you so much for sharing this number. (And do NOT listen to the nay-sayers.)
Peace.

I'm so pleased that you're passing this on, as the students will have some fun with the symbolism (which seems to have by-passed some) towards the end. Strange how Americans like our accents. I would have thought that to you all, we might sound cold and 'clipped' LOL. Thank you for your words, regards M

It's so good for me that someone as young as yourself is able to be 'touched' by someone else's words, while also you are so keen to listen and to learn from everyone here. You are wise beyond your years I feel and as bright as a pin. Thank you so much for calling in here and leaving those words my friend, regards M

Wonderful work Maurice! &mdash 08/27/07 - 02:05:37 PM
In spirit not unlike the Prayer of St. Francis, and containing that timeless wisdom that can only arise from deep meditational states. These days I am also decidedly non-religious, yet I remain a committed traveller on the spiritual quest. Materialism is utter delusion.

This is the most uplifting piece I've ever heard at MJ. It is a pleasure to know you are a fellow traveller on the way.

Be well friend!

That was some meditation you had....Its funny how inspiration comes like this. The key is stilling the mind and opening to the infinite. Music and Word masterly blended with a wonderful voice and accent (at least to us in the US) which furnishes gravitas without being preachy. I'm excited to download this and share your inspiration in my future meditations...Thank you my friend!...Its always good to meet a fellow traveler.... Digitalnirvana9/Norman

Certainly, I'm not in any way shape or form, what one would consider to be, a religious creature, but I do want to be a "good" person - I think that this would make for good guidlines for any decent doctrine of life, unless you're the "devel's" child...

This did come from deep withing - Thanks for sharing it Movtz. Macca

Sorry, I found myself listening to the sound of your soothing voice, and not paying much attention to the meaning. ( same thing used to happen to me when I used to go to church.) You sound a little like Richard Burton.
