Description:
political tune with sixties garage overtones

Lyrics:
The drum I hear is one black dance
We can not stop if we want to
The promise that we made is to try
But how are we to pay this bill come due?

I feel the black dance starting
And it's whirling faster and faster

We do deserve to see our times
We chose to see the world this way
The man sees the bridge come crashing down
He says he won't raise taxes, "and by the way, pray!"

I feel the black dance starting
And it's whirling faster and faster

The rhythm is changing
The dance keeps changing
We're marching to the Mississippi River

--

This war in Babylon will drag us down
Abraham's children all claiming self defense
I don't believe in God, but still I see
Satan laughs and spreads his wings to dance

I see the black dance starting
And it's whirling faster and faster

The rhythm is changing
The dance is changing
We're marching down to the Euphrates River
Then the lake of fire
The lake of fire
yeah

I've heard of LG before, but I hadn't actually listened closely to what he does. But you're right, I can totaly relate to what he does & I do hear the similarity. Thanks, ECM, that's both high praise and new music for me to check out!

(btw -- hurry up and earn them points so you can post music here!)

This song has that 60's feel and I believe it's the organ sound. It seems there are a lot of political songs springing up lately and I suppose that's not a bad thing. I'm going to give this one another good listen so I can absorb the message. :)

Nice job - Thanks for sharing,

mvh : )

yeah, it's a very political time in the country -- there's a lot at stake. I've played in a couple of bands over the years that kinda revive the sixties garage style, and this is fairly much in line with that.

Glad you liked the tune, thanks for listening & commentig!

Interesting piece! &mdash 08/28/07 - 03:14:18 PM
You have a unique voice and this is really clean and well produced. The only thing I would suggest is that you might consider pulling the guitars up a notch! Other than that it's a great tune and I enjoyed it immensely! Thanks.

I appreciate your comments, thanks very much!

Part of the process of this song has been taming things down incrementally, but ultimately a whole lot! I had originally thought I would like to write something kind of dark and metallish, but It kept getting toned down. At one point I had all the distortion and effects off of the guitars, but now some is back, and I could see adding back more & maybe bringing up the level on those tracks.

Sounbds like there's a remix in my future!

Cheers!
