Description:
This song was inspired by the Danish TV series Ørnen: En krimi-odyssé. There is a scene where the main character is fighting for his life in hospital and there is a dream sequence in which he visits his dead mother in a cold, strange blue and white land. He wants to stay, but she tells him to leave, saying "someone's waiting for you in Iceland".
Lyrics:
Underneath my feet
The cracking ice
Sings a frozen song
Of blue and white
I can't feel my fingers
And I can't tell
Is this my blue heaven
Or my white hell
CHORUS:
You do not belong here
This is not your home
Someone's waiting for you in Iceland
It's time for you to go
This is the space between
The day and night
Eternal dawn
Forever twilight
This is not your time
It can't be you
Please keep moving
Pass on through
CHORUS
Did you come for answers?
Did you come to die?
Do you seek forgiveness?
Well so do I
I'm sorry baby
It seems I lied
You were always loved
When you were mine
CHORUS
It's time for you to go
It's time for you to go

Its always wonderful when you can take something and make it into metaphor so successfully. You have transformed Iceland into something with double and triple meanings. A yearning, perhaps a false hope that has become an icy mirror of your own disappointments, a catalyst for change, a vast open space for your spirit to roam, an uncertain oasis of thought and freedom. Excellent production. [ Reply to This ]

Love the vocal Ross &mdash 08/28/07 - 07:07:14 AM
Shades of Eurovision (I mean that in the nicest possible way). Your voice is really exceptional on this - very reminiscent of someone whose name escapes me (James Blunt - or someone much better - maybe). Lovely synthy sounds and a really polished production - the longer I listen the more impressed I'm getting. I'd possibly like a nice straight strummed acoustic in there as well, but a very minor nit.
Now that Alf's moving north, the "beardie wierdie weekend" is going to be more difficult to arrange, but I'll be there with a guitar for sure.
Damn fine song Ross!

goose bumps over my body Ross. Beautiful music, truly beautiful, every single little sound i hear there. Don't ask me to name them, they sound like space flying. You know what i mean for sure. Love that "choir", singing behind your back. The flute has stunning melody and is just simply wonderful. And have to say, that your voice has got that "something" what makes it different from others. What makes you recognizable if heard on radio or with closed eyes among other people. a voice with a "character". wonderful. [ Reply to This ]
Who the heck... &mdash 09/02/07 - 07:52:12 AM
...does that "Someone's waiting..." line remind me of?
It will come to me at four in the morning - no doubt!
Ross this is excellent. You have a very unique voice, and also a deft touch with the lyrical pen. Great word work there...
On this and your other songs you have a canny knack of finding a sweet melody in there as well. Truly top drawer. More please:-))
